UC ingot   UC Clermont College will launch a new program designed to help underprepared students succeed in college.  The College Success Program will be launched this fall.
“As an open-access college, UC Clermont accepts students with diverse educational backgrounds and levels of preparedness.  Nearly a third of students test below college level in writing and even more students test below college level math,” said Barbara Wallace, director of the College Success Program.
Mike Faulkner just completed his freshman year at UC Clermont College. He admits that his first year was a tough transition, particularly because, “I didn’t take high school seriously,” said the 2007 Bethel High School graduate.
Faulkner struggled as he began college and felt unprepared, nearly dropping out. I think this new program will be awesome because there are people like me that don’t think they are ever going to go anywhere,” said Faulkner who plans on transferring into the Radiology Program.
“The College Success Program will help students who are academically underprepared for college level courses by providing strong academic and personal support in order to build a firm foundation for success,” said Wallace.
UC Clermont College has hired two new professional tutors in the Learning Center to support this new program. New faculty is being devoted to teaching preparatory math, English and reading and the college has hired Lisa Griffith as the new achievement coach for this program.
The College Success Program is meant to provide a solid foundation for students so that they succeed in college-level courses by providing additional guidance and support to students in preparatory English, math and reading courses.
