Celebrate the Investiture of UC’s 28th President on April 19

The formal investiture of Santa J. Ono as the 28th President of the University of Cincinnati will take place Friday, April 19. Read to learn how you can participate, both online and in person.

The formal investiture of Santa J. Ono as the 28th President of the University of Cincinnati will take place on April 19. Festivities to mark this historic occasion will include:

  • The Formal Investiture Ceremony – at 9:30 a.m. in Corbett Auditorium at the College-Conservatory of Music.  Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends will join dignitaries and delegates from across the country in marking this historic occasion. Because seating is limited in Corbett Auditorium, a select number of seats are reserved for the broader campus community on a first-come-first-serve basis.  To register for a ticket, please visit
  • Simulcast Locations and Webcast – The investiture ceremony will be shown at simulcast locations around the University as well as streamed in real time on the web.  For more information on viewing options and event logistics, please visit the investiture website.
  • Twitter Hashtags - The Investiture Planning Committee has suggested two hashtags for Twitter discussion on Investiture. #Celebrate28 is designated for the ceremony and activities associated with investiture, while #CongratsSanta is suggested for congratulatory messages to Dr. Ono.
  • #Celebrate28 Pep Rally – starting at 11 a.m. in the third-floor atrium of Tangeman University Center (TUC).  All members of the UC community are encouraged to participate and to greet President Ono immediately following the investiture ceremony.
  • Bearcats at the Ballpark – UC Annual Night with the Reds – All members of the UC family, inluding alumni, students, faculty, staff, donors and friends, are invited to the annual UC night with the Cincinnati Reds. President Ono will attend the game. The Reds will host the Miami Marlins with game time at 7:10 p.m.  Bearcats football coach Tommy Tuberville will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and there will be fireworks after the game.  Discount tickets can be purchased online – and check out President Ono’s video invitation.
