What fitness classes are available over the summer?
Ashley Varol, UC Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness, says that the UC Campus Recreation Center and the Fitness Center at CARE/Crawley on the Uptown East Campus offer a variety of fitness classes for all fitness levels.
During the session 2 of summer classes, the UC Campus Recreation Center will offer Specialized Fitness and Wellness classes like TRX 101, where youll learn how to use your own body weight with Suspension Training straps; ViPR Summer Burn, where youll get to use the 4-20kg ViPRs (a unique piece of equipment ONLY available here at UC); and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Striking, where youll learn muay thai, kickboxing, boxing, wrestling, and jiu jitsu techniques, Varol said. Registration for our session 2 summer fitness classes is open until June 27th and classes will begin June 30th.
Session 2 classes are $30 for members and $39 for non-members. See Session 2 schedule here.
UC Campus Recreation has a comprehensive list of fitness classes, including yoga and flexibility, Pilates and core, cardio and dance, strength and intervals, cycling, aquatics, and climbing, and the schedule of upcoming classes on their website.
What programs can UC Campus Recreation offer to departments?
Teambuilding is an important component of any departmental strategic plan, said Varol. The UC Campus Recreation Team Building program focuses on bringing members of your team closer through various exercises using both the body and mind.
The Benefits and Wellness team will continue to provide updates about upcoming Campus Recreation Center offerings through the UC Wellness newsletter. If you would like to receive the newsletter, join the wellness listserv by sending a request to wellness@uc.edu
