"We are honored to be selected by the INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine for the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity award,” said Bleuzette Marshall, UC’s chief diversity officer. “This tribute recognizes many members across the depth and breadth of the university who are actively working because we care about one another as a community where all can contribute and all can be heard.”

Among achievements highlighted in materials submitted to INSIGHT Into Diversity were
  • The 6th Annual Diversity Conference
  • UC’s Diversity Incentive Grants
  • Faculty Diversity & Inclusion Research Grants
  • Faculty Strategic Hiring Opportunities
  • Completion of a D&I Climate Assessment
  • Increased scholarship support
  • Enhancements to UC’s supplier diversity program
  • Development of a diversity data portal
  • Creation of a new position to lead fundraising efforts to build a more robust resource base for diversity and inclusion.
INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine selected the University of Cincinnati based on UC’s comprehensive approach to diversity and inclusion, including all aspects of diversity including gender, race, ethnicity, veterans, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBT community.

“This comprehensive approach not only has a system of accountability, it is designed to be transparent and accessible to all who care to make their own unique contributions to our community,” Marshall said.

“We hope the HEED award serves as a way to honor those institutions of higher education that recognize the importance of diversity and inclusion as part of their everyday campus culture,” said Lenore Pearlstein, publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.
