UCPI Mission The mission of the UCPI is to encourage best practices in law enforcement and policing through the application of research and knowledge to issues of crime control, administration, and public safety. Description of Institute UCPI personnel have presented training programs on a variety of topics including racial profiling, crime analysis, first-line supervision, and civil liability to national, regional, state, and local audiences. The faculty and staff of the UCPI include well-known experts in policing research, attorneys, and advanced doctoral students with expertise in a full range of research and analytic techniques. Services The UCPI offers a broad spectrum of services including training, technical assistance, and research. Among other research, UCPI staff are currently involved in studies of racial profiling, officer recruitment, selection, and training, and assessments of public attitudes towards the police.
