- The university of Cincinnati, a public institution dedicated to providing an
environment conducive to teaching, learning, research, and a continuing search for
truth, will not take a position on any matter of political or public controversy.
- Any individual member or group of members of the university community, like any
other citizen or group of citizens, is free to debate and take a position on any
matter of public controversy. But, since the collective reputation of the university
cannot be abrogated by any individual or group as a means of supporting his/her or
its position, any such activity must be taken in a way to make clear that it is not
being carried on by or in the name of the university.
- Letters or other statements by members of the staff, faculty, or student body
on matters of public controversy may not use the university's name to gain support
or wider circulation for the written or spoken views of such members.
