UC Remote Access (UCRA)

UCRA provides the UC community with home access (from the local Cincinnati calling area) to the UC Network (UCNet) and the Internet using a computer and a standard telephone line. The UCRA service, provided by UCit, is available, free of charge, to all registered UC students, as well as the university's faculty and staff. For more information, you may want to see the UCRA Technical Information document.

UCRA is a dial-up access modem pool of modem and network equipment from Cisco Networks and digital phone lines. Nine digital PRI circuits provide simultaneous connections to 207 modems that are divided into two separate partitions, as follows:

  • The student partition has 92 modems/lines with a common overflow of 23. Students' access is via phone number, 861-9501. The student partition is ITIE-funded; faculty and staff are prohibited from using these lines.
  • The faculty and staff partition has 92 modems/lines with a common overflow of 23. Employees' access is via phone number, 861-9503.
