Effective 1 July 2009, Michael Lieberman is the University of Cincinnati’s Interim Vice President and Chief Information Officer. He is the university officer responsible for coordination of technology architecture, policy development, and provision of university-wide information technology services, including computing, telecommunications, administrative and academic systems, and associated support services.
Michael earned a BS in Biology from MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Brandeis University in Massachusetts, and was a postdoctoral fellow in Biochemistry for three years at Washington University. He first joined the University of Cincinnati as an associate professor in 1983, is a Distinguished Teaching Professor (2002), and won the Mrs. A.B. "Dolly" Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2001.
As Dean of Instructional and Research Computing (UCit), Michael is responsible for Academic Health Center Network Services, Software Development, and Instructional Technology groups as well as academic computing functions for the west campus. This includes administration of the Blackboard course management system, oversight of electronic classrooms, the public computer labs, UCFileSpace, and instructional design. Furthermore, his staff supports faculty in their use of technology in teaching through the Faculty Technology Resources Center, and supports digital video processing through the Presentation Technology Services Group.
Michael is also a professor of molecular genetics, biochemistry and microbiology. |
