Janae’ is a third year Communication student. She has worked as an Academic Coach for three years and is a Darwin T. Turner Scholar. She is a Resident Advisor in the Campus Recreation Center, and she enjoys helping students find great ways to become active on campus. She also enjoys working out and watching all types of sports.

In addition to attending courses and working as an academic coach, Kaila works for Fidelity Investments and is the student ambassador for Fidelity on UC’s campus. She used to work for the Learning Center on the UC Clermont campus as an English and Math peer tutor before she became a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Algebra. She has a passion for empowering students through education and enjoys working for the LAC because it enables her to do just that. In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga and travelling.

Hannah is a third year student in the College of Law and this is her first year as an Academic Coach. Though a Chicago native, she received her Bachelor's in Political Science as well as her Master's in Applied Social Sciences from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida. She currently chairs Community Outreach and Service initiatives for the Black Law Student Association (BLSA), is a Senior Article Editor at the Urban Morgan Institute's Human Rights Quarterly Journal which focuses on her passion of international human rights law, and substitute teaches at the Law & Leadership Institute. She enjoys helping students to build personalized pathways to their individual idea of success. She also enjoys yoga, running, cooking, traveling, music, and social activism.

Alexandra is a third year in biological sciences on the pre-med track.She is a Cincinnatus and Choose Ohio First scholar. Besides working at the LAC, she is an undergraduate researcher at Shriners Hospital. Alexandra is really looking forward to pursuing a career in medicine. Balancing work, school, and social life can be difficult sometimes but she really enjoys being involved in campus and the community and would really like to help students learn to balance theirs! In her free time, Alexandra enjoys reading, working out, and playing with her animals!

Cami is a third year Psychology student in the University Honors Program. This is her second year working at the LAC as an Academic Coach. When she’s not in the office, she works as a server at Outback. She has learned how to balance school, working two jobs, and a social life through her experience at UC, and she is committed to helping other students succeed. In her free time, she loves taking walks with her dog, reading a good book, and finding new recipes.

Rachel is a senior majoring in psychology. She will continue her education to obtain a PhD in clinical health psychology. It is important to Rachel to be involved in research, so she is currently working with Dr. Sian Cotton in the lab focused on integrative health and wellness. Additionally, she is gaining clinical experience working as an interventionist for patients who have epilepsy. Other academic activities include the responsibilities of Psi Chi public relations manager and Psi Chi member, and being an active Scholar for the McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program. While Rachel is not hard at work with school activities, she is practicing yoga, running, pinteresting, or spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoys hanging out at all the new U-Square stores and restaurants!

Zack is a third year year clarinet performance major at the UC College Conservatory of Music (CCM). He is the president of CCM's chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He has worked on mission trips in Central America for several summers and also tutors elementary aged students. Outside of his studies, he is an avid sports fan and enjoys reading, video games, and spending time with friends and family.

Year: PhD Graduate Student
Michelle began her career as a high school teacher at her alma mater Summit Country Day. She has worked in a variety of educational settings including the Summerbridge program (now called Breakthrough) in which high school and college students teach elementary school students. She received her undergraduate degree in sociology and the dramatic arts from Centre College and her Master’s Degree in sociology at the University of Cincinnati in 2009. She is passionate about education and the arts and strives to make learning fun no matter what age group she teaches. Her hobbies include cooking, singing karaoke and hanging out with her husband and their 3 year old daughter.

James is a Choose Ohio First Scholar, currently in the fourth year of his five year program here at UC. He is a dual degree student, pursuing majors in Biochemistry and Psychology, with a minor in organizational leadership. In addition to his coursework, James serves as secretary for AED, a pre-med fraternity on campus. He has also been involved with UC's Bearcat Buddies tutoring program. In his free time, James enjoys trying new foods, hiking, and watching movies with friends.

Josh is a second year Cincinnatus Scholar majoring in Biology and Neurobiology on the pre-med track. He is in the Honors Program and also performs research within the Neuroscience Department. He has learned to handle taking classes while also having work and research, and is able to help other students find a good balance in their schedules and succeed at UC. Josh enjoys playing/watching baseball and basketball, spending time with friends, and relaxing whenever there’s free time.
