Jade C

Jade C.
Major: 
Communication Sciences and Disorders
Year: Fourth Year

Jade is a fourth year Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) major, studying to pursue a career in Speech-Language Pathology. She is also pursuing the Certificate of Spanish for Service Learning in Social Work and Health Care Services. Jade is a University Honors Student, a Cincinnatus Scholar, and a UC Gen-1 Ambassador. This is her second year working as an Academic Coach in the LAC. Outside of the LAC, Jade is also a student worker in the UC Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, President of the National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association, and Vice-President of Multicultural Concerns in CSD. She is also a UC WISE Scholar and a McNair Scholar. In her free time, Jade enjoys volunteering around Cincinnati, watching beauty and fashion videos on YouTube, eating, and shopping!

Sarah E.

Sarah E.
Major: Psychology
Year: Second

Sarah is a second year student majoring in Psychology and minoring in Early Childhood Education and Development.  She hopes to go to graduate school to study Clinical Child Psychology in the future.  This is her first year working as an Academic Coach at the LAC.  Aside from working at the LAC, Sarah is a Cincinnatus Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Psychology Club, and the UC Symphony Orchestra.  She is excited to work with students and help them learn how to navigate their challenges as they strive achieve success at UC.  Outside of school, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, reading, catching up on Netflix, and volunteering with several local organizations.

Madison

Maddie G.
Major: Communicative Sciences and Disorders
Year: Fourth Year

Maddie is a fourth-year CSD major, perusing her dream to become a speech-language pathologist. This is Maddie’s second year working as an Academic Coach and loves helping students be successful. She is involved around campus through her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, Bearcat Buddies, and with the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association. In her free time, Maddie enjoys running, playing tennis, babysitting, and spending time with friends and family.

Katarina

Katerina G.
Major: Communication/Marketing/Information Systems
Year: Third

Katerina is a third year, triple majoring in Communication, Marketing, and Information Systems, from Cleveland, Ohio.  She currently works at a marketing professional at Four Pillars Marketing in Columbus, Ohio and is the fundraising executive for Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Fraternity. She is an academic coach with the Learning Assistance Center specializing in time management, note-taking, a study habits.  In her free time, Katerina spends her time singing and dancing with her friends!

Paige

Paige H.
Major: Communication Sciences and Disorders
Year: Fourth Year

Paige is a fourth- year CSD major, studying to become a speech and language pathologist. She is also working towards a Spanish minor and a Spanish certificate for Social Work and Health Services. This is Paige’s first year as an Academic Coach. She is currently a member of UC’s National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and was nominated as a Top 10Member for the 2015-2016 academic year. During the summer of 2016, Paige studied abroad in Guatemala for four weeks to study Spanish and serve in a school for children with disabilities. In hoping to gain experience in a medical setting, she currently volunteers at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in the Department of Speech Pathology on a weekly basis. Paige is also a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, a violinist in the UC Symphony Orchestra and a member of the UC Mountaineering Club. In her spare time, she enjoys playing her violin, practicing martial arts, scrapbooking and traveling!

Jeremy

Jeremy H.

: Psychology/Cognitive Studies
Year: Fourth

Jeremy is a fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing degrees in both Psychology and Cognitive Studies. This is his second year at the LAC and very much looks forward to assisting the student body in developing stronger academic skills. Jeremy the Treasurer of Psi-Chi, has had multiple semesters of experience as at TA in Psychology courses, and works in two Psychology labs on campus; Social Identity and Diversity and Human Resources and Workplace Effectiveness. He is hoping to stay at UC for graduate school in order to pursue his Master’s degree in Applied Psychology. In his free time he looks forward to fishing, playing with his dog, being with friends, and drinking lots of coffee.

Jordan

Jordan is a third-year student majoring in Middle Childhood Education with a focus in Mathematics and Natural Sciences with hopes to become an education advocate. This is her second year as an academic coach. She is a member of the University Honors Program, a Cincinnatus Scholar, and a member of Alpha Lambda Delta. In addition to being an academic coach, Jordan is a peer leader. She is highly involved around campus with the CECH ambassadors, Middle Childhood Education Society and Bearcat Buddies. In her spare time, Jordan likes to spend time with her friends and family, watch Netflix, and go bargain shopping.

Alexandra

Alex K.
Major: Graphic Communication Design
Year: Fourth Year

Alex is a fourth year student majoring in Graphic Communication Design. This is her third year as an academic coach. She is a Cincinnatus Scholar and a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Golden Key Honour Society, and the American Institute of Graphic Arts. Along with her job as an academic coach, Alex runs a photography business and does freelance graphic design. In her spare time, she likes to play tennis, watch movies, and cook.

Douglas

Douglas M.
Major: Computer Engineering
Year: Third Year

Douglas is a Third-year student majoring in Computer Engineering. This is his second year as an academic coach at the LAC. He was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps before he became a civilian in July of 2014. He has experience in mentoring and developing peers in order to achieve their goals. He is also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and has maintained a 3.9 GPA since beginning school. In his free time he enjoys relaxing with his wife, and watching terrible Netflix horror movies.

Meredith

Meredith M.

Communication Sciences and Disorders
Year: Fourth Year

Meredith is a fourth-year, CSD major, studying to become a speech and language pathologist. This is her third year of working in the LAC as an Academic Coach (she obviously loves it!). She is currently the Vice President Community for UC's National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. In hoping to gain experience in a hospital environment, she volunteers at Children's Hospital in the Speech Department on a weekly basis. In between school, jobs and organizations, she likes to do little weekend tripes, traveling (ask me about study abroad!), toss frisbee, and spending time with friends and family.

Grace

Grace O.
Major: English Literature
Year: Third Year

Grace is a third-year student studying English Literature. This is her first year as an academic coach and second year as a peer tutor. Outside of the LAC, she has worked as a History test writer and is currently a member of UC’s Cross Country and Track team and Alpha Lambda Delta Society. She looks forward to helping students develop useful tools for success as well as a love of learning. In her free time, she likes to bake, read, and spend time wandering around art museums.

Alec

Alec R.
Major: History
Year: Fourth

Alec is a fourth-year student in the cross college major program for History and Secondary Education- Social Studies in McMicken College of arts and The College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH). This is his second year as an academic coach. He is a member of the University of Cincinnati Honors Program, Golden Key Honor Society and previously worked as a peer mentor in the Center for First Year Experience. Outside of school Alec has been a member of the Army National Guard for 4 years. He enjoys the balance of service, studies, and still maintaining a social life. In his free time he enjoys reading, listening and playing music, and watching movies.

Emily

Emily R.

: Operations Management and International Business
Year: Fourth year

Emily is a fourth-year Cincinnatus and University Honors Program student studying Operations Management and International Business while also pursuing a minor in Business Analytics. She is a member of the Kolodzik Business Scholars Program in the Lindner College of Business and has served as President of KBSA. She is also a member of Lindner Ambassadors, Delta Sigma Pi, and Kappa Alpha Theta. Outside of school and extracurricular activities, Emily enjoys volunteering with the Stray Animal Adoption Program as well as working out, catching up on Netflix dramas, and visiting family in her hometown on the Westside of Cincinnati.

Lindsey

Lindsey S.
Major: Organization Leadership
Year: Third Year

Lindsey is a third year Organizational Leadership student in the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences with a minor in Communication. This is her first year working as an Academic Coach at the LAC. On campus, Lindsey is a ROAR Tour Guide, a University Honors Program Ambassador, and a student leader and mentor for H2O Campus Ministry. Since moving to Cincinnati, Lindsey has loved engaging with the community of the Queen City by getting involved or interning with a number of non-profit organizations off campus, such as Dress for Success Cincinnati and Magnified Giving. Lindsey also loves to spend time playing wallyball, reading, and getting to know people over a good cup of coffee.

Caroline

Caroline S.

Caroline Shapiro is a third year studying International Business and Marketing at the Carl H. Lindner College of Business. She is also pursuing a Certificate in Business Spanish. She is a member of the University Honors Program, a Cincinnatus Scholar, and a Kolodzik Business Scholar. Caroline’s campus involvement includes being a sister of Kappa Delta Sorority as well as a brother of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Fraternity, and working in the Honors Department at the Lindner College of Business. She is dedicated to helping other students at the University of Cincinnati grow and achieve their full potential. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and eating sushi!

Dea is a fourth-year student majoring in Dietetics in the Coordinated Program. This is her fourth semester as an academic coach. She is involved with the Student Dietetic Association, a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and volunteers frequently. In her free time, she enjoys exploring like visiting Europe (Spain, France, Greece, and Italy), cooking, taking pictures, and running.

Chris S.

Year: Second

Chris is a second-year Accounting student and minoring in Environmental Studies. This is his first year as an academic coach for the LAC. He is the Vice President in the Leaders for Environmental Awareness and Protection (LEAP) club, and the Treasurer for the Entrepreneurship club. In his spare time, he likes working out, spending time with friends, and watching Netflix.

Tristen

Tristen T.

Year: Fourth Year

Tristen is a fourth-year biological sciences student on a pre-vet track. Aside from being a full-time student, Tristen volunteers at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens, is a member of the Alpha Lambda Honors Society, and the Pre-vet club. Being an organized and involved student while reaching her academic goals is something Tristen takes pride in, and she is looking forward to helping other students do the same. In her free time, Tristen enjoys working out, hanging out with her friends, shadowing at veterinary clinics, and reading.

Alexis is a fourth-year Cincinnatus student studying Neuroscience on the pre-medical track with hopes of pursuing a career in pediatric medicine. She is a member of the University Honors Program and the Connections Dual Admissions Program at the UC College of Medicine. This is her third year working as an academic coach at the LAC. She is also the Vice President of UC Healthcats and a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta. Outside of school Alexis enjoys volunteering at Good Samaritan Hospital as well as baking, reading mystery novels, and spending time with friends and family.
