Alexis

Alexis W.
Major: Neuroscience
Year: Third year

Alexis is a third-year Cincinnatus student studying Neuroscience on the pre-medical track with hopes of pursuing a career in pediatric medicine. She is a member of the University Honors Program and the Connections Dual Admissions Program at the UC College of Medicine. This is her second year working as an academic coach at the LAC. She is also a presentation coordinator for Healthcats and a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta. Outside of school Alexis enjoys volunteering at Good Samaritan Hospital as well as baking, reading mystery novels, and spending time with friends and family.

Amanda

Amanda D.
Major: Fashion Design
Year: Second Year

Amanda is a second-year student majoring in Fashion Design at the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP). This is her first year as an academic coach. She is also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society and serves as a Major Mentor for the Center of Exploratory Studies. Aside from campus involvement, Amanda serves pizza at Adriatico's Sports Bar and has enjoyed finding a school, work, social life balance. In her free time you can find her making art, doing DIY projects, or raiding thrift stores.

Cat

Cat H.
Major: Electronic Media
Year: Second Year

Cat is a second-year Cincinnatus and honors student majoring in Electronic Media with certificates in Critical Visions and Film and Media Studies. This is her first year as an Academic Coach for the LAC. Besides coaching, she is an actress, and the current treasurer of the on-campus theater club, DAFT. She also works doing web design for a friend’s company. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, watching Netflix, and spending time with friends and family.

Dea

Dea S.
Major
: Dietetics and Spanish
Year: Third Year

Dea is a second-year student majoring in Dietetics and minoring in Spanish. This is her first year working as an Academic Coach. She is involved with serving as the treasurer for the Student Dietetic Association, a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and volunteering weekly. While not busy with school or work, she enjoys working out, spending time with friends, and cooking.

Doug

Douglas M.
Major: Computer Engineering
Year: Second Year

Douglas is a second-year student majoring in Computer Engineering. This is his first year as an academic coach at the LAC. He was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps before he became a civilian in July of 2014. He has experience in mentoring and developing peers in order to achieve their goals. He is also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and has maintained a 4.0 GPA since beginning school. In his free time he enjoys relaxing with his wife, and watching terrible Netflix horror movies.

Erin

Erin O.
Major: Psychology (B.A. and B.S.)
Year: Third Year

Erin is a third-year Psychology major also pursuing a certificate in Violence Prevention in Families, Schools, and Communities. One day, she hopes to become a community psychologist to help improve the services and lives of domestic violence and sexual assault victims. She is a Cincinnatus scholar and Vice President of UC’s chapter of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society for Psychology. This is her first year as an Academic Coach. Besides working in the Learning Assistance Center, she just began working as an undergraduate research assistant in the Children’s Cognitive Research Lab (CCRL). Erin is most excited about helping fellow Bearcats find their passion in academia and succeed here at UC. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring cities, trying local food places, singing, hanging out with friends, and running.

Farah

Farah H.
Major
: Neurobiology
Year: Fourth Year

Farah is a third-year Neurobiology major on the pre-medicine track. She is a Cincinnatus Scholar as well as a University Honors Program Ambassador. This is her first year working in the LAC as an academic coach. Outside of the LAC, Farah is a student researcher and volunteer at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She is also a ROAR Tour Guide, a member of AED, and involved in Global Public Health Brigades. She sings Bollywood Fusion music with the UC Junoon A Cappella group as well. During her free time she likes to read, do yoga, and of course spend time with friends and family. Farah loves being involved in the UC community, and she is committed to helping her peers succeed.

Jade

Jade C.
Major: Communication Sciences & Disorders
Year: Third Year

Jade is a third-year Communication Sciences and Disorders major, studying to pursue a career in Speech-Language Pathology. She is also pursuing the Certificate of Spanish for Service Learning in Social Work and Health Care Services. Jade is a University Honors Student, a Cincinnatus Scholar, and a UC Gen-1 Ambassador. This is her first year working as an Academic Coach in the LAC. Outside of the LAC, Jade is also a Student Worker in the College of Allied Health Sciences and an Executive Board member for UC's chapter of the National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association and Multicultural Concerns in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is also a former UC WISE research participant and is currently a McNair Scholar. In her free time, Jade enjoys volunteering at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, watching beauty and fashion videos on YouTube, eating, and shopping!

Jonathan

Jonathan M.
Major: Viola Performance Master’s
Year: Graduate

Jonathan is in his first year of a Master of Music program in viola performance at the UC College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). This is his first year working at the LAC as an academic coach. He participates with several music and performing organizations, in wide ranging locations from Cincinnati and Indiana to Johnson City, Tennessee. He is looking forward to working with other UC students about how best to handle, and then accomplish, a great balance of work and free time. In Jonathan's free time, he enjoys listening to music, cooking, going to the Rec Center, and running races of varying distances.

Jordan

Jordan H.
Major: Middle Childhood Education- Mathematics & Natural Sciences
Year: Second Year

Jordan is a second-year student majoring in Middle Childhood Education with a focus in Mathematics and Natural Sciences on the pre-law track. This is her first year as an academic coach. She is a member of the University Honors Program, a Cincinnatus Scholar, and a member of Alpha Lambda Delta. In addition to being an academic coach, Jordan is a peer  leader. She is highly involved around campus with the CECH ambassadors, Middle Childhood Education Society, Cats for Cause, and Bearcat Buddies. In her spare time, Jordan likes to spend time with her friends and family, watch Netflix, and bargain shopping.

Jordan

Jordan P.
Major
: English Literature
Year: Third Year

Jordan is a second-year student majoring in English Literature, and this is his first year as an academic coach. He is a Cincinnatus scholar and University Honors student. He is also involved with the Residence Hall Association. Jordan is committed to helping students learn to be successful in balancing school and life. In his free time, Jordan enjoys playing pool, reading, watching Netflix, and spending time with his dog, Sophie.

Jorge

Jorge M.
Major: Business Administration Master’s
Year: Graduate

Jorge is a graduate student at the Lindner College of Business. He is pursuing both a Master of Business Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Management. He also attended UC for his undergraduate studies in International Affairs. Jorge’s on campus involvement includes memberships in Omega Delta Sigma Veterans Fraternity, as well as a Pi Kappa Phi fraternity (alumnus). Prior to transitioning to UC Jorge served in the United States Marine Corps. He hopes to help other student veterans succeed in their transition from military life to college. Some of his favorite activities are traveling and attending music shows. This will be Jorge’s first year as an academic coach.

Katee

Katee M.
Major: Communication Sciences and Disorders
Year: Third Year

Katee is a third year Darwin T. Turner Scholar majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders through the College of Allied Health Sciences. This is her first year as an Academic Coach. Aside from the LAC, Katee also works in the Office of Ethnic Programs and Services and holds leadership positions through the Turner Scholars program. In her free time, Katee enjoys helping others, spending time with family and friends, and shopping.

Kati

Kati W.
Major: Medical Laboratory Science
Year: Third Year

Kati is a third year student pursuing a major in Medical Laboratory Science and a minor in Psychology. She is also on a pre-medical track with future goals of attending medical school and becoming an obstetrician. Aside from Academic Coaching, Kati is very involved in her sorority, Phi Mu, in which she serves as the Secretary and Discipline Chairman. She is also a member of the University Honors Program, as well as Alpha Epsilon Delta and Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Societies. Kati is a volunteer in the NICU and maternity floor at Good Samaritan Hospital and stockroom worker for UC’s undergraduate chemistry labs. In her spare time Kati enjoys running, shopping, drinking coffee, reading, and painting.

Maddie

Maddie G.
Major: Communicative Sciences and Disorders
Year: Third Year

Maddie is a third-year CSD major, perusing her dream to become a speech and language pathologist. She is also minoring in Nutritional Sciences. This is Maddie’s first year working as an Academic Coach and is excited to help students be successful. She is involved around campus through her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and with the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association. In her free time, Maddie enjoys running, playing tennis, babysitting, and spending time with friends and family.

Marissa

Marissa J.
Major
: Psychology
Year: Fourth Year

Marissa is a third-year Psychology major. She is also pursuing a minor in Early Childhood Education and Development and a certificate in Deaf Studies. She will continue her studies to obtain a Doctorate degree in Counseling. Her goal is to one day become a Child, Family, and Relationship therapist. This is her first year as an Academic Coach. Apart from working in the Learning Assistance Center, she is a member of Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. In her spare time, Marissa loves to read, volunteer, and hang out with friends and family.

McKenzie

McKenzie W.
Major: Organizational Leadership
Year: Third Year

McKenzie is an Organizational Leadership major also working towards her minor in Economics. She plans to pursue a career in the human resource field post-graduation. Aside from working at the LAC, McKenzie is a part of the Alpha Lambda Delta Scholarship Association, the Chi Omega fraternity, the ROAR Tour Guides, and is a Cincinnatus Scholar. In her free time, she likes to attend UC sporting events, hang out with friends and family, and read. McKenzie looks forward to working with many of UC’s students to help them reach their full potential.

Meredith

Meredith M.
Major:
Communication Sciences and Disorders
Year: Third Year

Meredith is a third-year CSD major, studying to become a speech and language pathologist. This is her second year of working in the LAC as an Academic Coach. She is currently the Community Service Chair for UC's National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and Co-President for Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. In hoping to gain experience in a hospital environment, she volunteers at Children's Hospital in the Speech Department on a weekly basis. Outside of pursuing her career, she is a part of the UC Women's Ultimate Team and a member of UC's Mountaineering Club.

Myia

Myia R.
Major
: Psychology
Year: Fourth Year

Myia is a fourth-year Psychology major. She is also pursuing minors in Early Childhood Education and Development, Africana Studies, as well as a certificate in Pre-Art Therapy.   She is  in pursuit of  becoming an art therapist for children. This is her second as an Academic Coach, and first year as a Coach Mentor. Apart from working in the Learning Assistance Center, Myia is a member of Psi Chi International Honorary Society in Psychology, Psychology Club, and a newly accepted member of WILL, Women in Leadership and Learning.  In her free time, Myia enjoys reading, painting, watching movies with friends, and playing basketball down at the Campus Recreation Center.

Sophonie

Sophonie B.
Major: Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Master’s
Year: Graduate

Sophonie is pursuing a Master of Arts in the Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies program. She graduated from Bethune-Cookman University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies/Affairs. Her goal is to work for a non-profit that provides social services to Haitian women and women of color, particularly LGBTQ-identified women. This will be Sophonie’s second, and final, year as an Academic Coach with the Learning Assistance Center. As a Haitian from Florida, she successfully made it through her first snowy winter last year! In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, organizing (really),listening to music, and watching crime-drama series.

Sumanth

Sumanth M.
Major: Information Systems
Year: Second Year

Sumanth, better known as Nani is a second year Information Systems student at the Lindner college of Business.  Nani moved to Cincinnati from Colorado because of UC’s co-op program and looks forward to his first co-op soon. This is his first year working at the LAC and his aim is to enlighten students on how the smallest changes lead to the biggest outcomes in life. Apart from working at the LAC he is a peer leader for the Emerging Ethnic Leaders group and he is also a UC global scholar. In his free time Nani enjoys playing basketball and likes to direct spoofs and short films. Nani believes that every individual is immensely talented in some realm or the other and aims to encourage the same in students. He also looks towards getting a graduate’s degree in an IT related field. His ultimate goal is to advance in the Information Technology and eventually develop a startup software firm.

Tristen

Tristen T.
Major: Biology
Year: Third Year

Tristen is a third-year biological sciences student on a pre-vet track. Aside from being a full-time student, Tristen volunteers at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens, is a member of the Alpha Lambda Honors Society, and the Pre-vet club, and is an ATA for the freshman biology course here at UC. Being an organized and involved student while reaching her academic goals is something Tristen takes pride in, and she is looking forward to helping other students do the same. In her free time, Tristen enjoys working out, hanging out with her friends, shadowing at veterinary clinics, and reading.
