Academic Coach Janae Collier-Stone

Janae’ Collier-Stone

Major: Communication
Year: Fourth Year

Janae’ is a third year Communication student. She has worked as an Academic Coach for three years and is a Darwin T. Turner Scholar. She is a Resident Advisor in the Campus Recreation Center, and she enjoys helping students find great ways to become active on campus. She also enjoys working out and watching all types of sports.

Coaching specialties:
Goal setting, campus involvement, stress management, time management and organizational skills.

Academic Coach Cami Jackson

Cami Jackson

Major: Psychology

Year: Third Year

Cami is a third year Psychology student in the University Honors Program. This is her second year working at the LAC as an Academic Coach.  When she’s not in the office, she works as a server at Outback. She has learned how to balance school, working two jobs, and a social life through her experience at UC, and she is committed to helping other students succeed. In her free time, she loves taking walks with her dog, reading a good book, and finding new recipes.

Academic Coach Hannah Brooks

Hannah Brooks

Major:  College of Law
Year: 3rd Year (3L)

Hannah is a third year student in the College of Law and this is her first year as an Academic Coach. Though a Chicago native, she received her Bachelor's in Political Science as well as her Master's in Applied Social Sciences from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida. She currently chairs Community Outreach and Service initiatives for the Black Law Student Association (BLSA), is a Senior Article Editor at the Urban Morgan Institute's Human Rights Quarterly Journal which focuses on her passion of international human rights law, and substitute teaches at the Law & Leadership Institute. She enjoys helping students to build personalized pathways to their individual idea of success. She also enjoys yoga, running, cooking, traveling, music, and social activism.

Academic Coach Alexandra Bowles

Alexandra Bowles

Major: Biology
Year: Third Year

Alexandra is a third year in biological sciences on the pre-med track.She is a Cincinnatus and Choose Ohio First scholar. Besides working at the LAC, she is an undergraduate researcher at Shriners Hospital. Alexandra is really looking forward to pursuing a career in medicine. Balancing work, school, and social life can be difficult sometimes but she really enjoys being involved in campus and the community and would really like to help students learn to balance theirs! In her free time, Alexandra enjoys reading, working out, and playing with her animals!

Academic Coach James Barnett

James Barnett

Major: Biochemistry, Psychology
Year: Fourth Year

James is a Choose Ohio First Scholar, currently in the fourth year of his five year program here at UC. He is a dual degree student, pursuing majors in Biochemistry and Psychology, with a minor in organizational leadership. In addition to his coursework, James serves as secretary for AED, a pre-med fraternity on campus. He has also been involved with UC's Bearcat Buddies tutoring program. In his free time, James enjoys trying new foods, hiking, and watching movies with friends.

Academic Coach Rachel Wasson

Rachel Wasson

Major: Psychology
Year: Fourth Year

Rachel is a senior majoring in psychology. She will continue her education to obtain a PhD in clinical health psychology. It is important to Rachel to be involved in research, so she is currently working with Dr. Sian Cotton in the lab focused on integrative health and wellness. Additionally, she is gaining clinical experience working as an interventionist for patients who have epilepsy. Other academic activities include the responsibilities of Psi Chi public relations manager and Psi Chi member, and being an active Scholar for the McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program. While Rachel is not hard at work with school activities, she is practicing yoga, running, pinteresting, or spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoys hanging out at all the new U-Square stores and restaurants!

Academic Coach Zack Stump

Zack Stump

Major: Clarinet Performance
Year: Third year

Zack is a third year year clarinet performance major at the UC College Conservatory of Music (CCM). He is the president of CCM's chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He has worked on mission trips in Central America for several summers and also tutors elementary aged students. Outside of his studies, he is an avid sports fan and enjoys reading, video games, and spending time with friends and family.

Coaching Specialties: Professionalism and preparation, organizational skills, time management, and self-motivation.

Academic Coach James Hux

James Hux

Major:  College of Law
Year: 3rd Year (3L)

James is currently a third-year law student at University of Cincinnati College of Law. James is from the Greater Dayton Area but currently resides in Cincinnati. James attended The Ohio State University where he earned a bachelors of science in Economics. At the University of Cincinnati College of Law, James is currently the vice president of the Black Law Students Association. After graduation, James plans to take the Ohio Bar Exam and practice in the Greater Cincinnati Area.​

Academic Coach Benedetta Khoury

Benedetta Khoury

Major: International Affairs
Year: Fourth Year

Benedetta is in her fourth year in the McMicken College of Arts & Sciences, focusing her studies on International Affairs and Human Rights, but she is also pursuing a Spanish minor. She was formerly a Learning Community Peer Leader for the Center for First Year Experience and she was also formerly a BEARchats Conversation Partner for the Learning Assistance Center. After graduating this April, Benedetta plans to attend graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh, where she will pursue an M.Ed. in Higher Education Management.

Academic Coach Stella Udeozor

Stella Udeozor

: Psychology and Communications
Year: Second Year

Stella is a 2nd year student double majoring in Psychology and Communications with hopes of switching into the Electronic Media program in the College-Conservatory of Music. Stella was a SOL summer of 2013, and she is currently Is a member of the University Honors Program, Navigators, BASE Steering Committee, SAC and ROAR Guides. Stella takes pride in all of her involvement, but her favorite parts of the day are spending time with her roommates (shout out to Lounge 710), eating, and SLEEPING.
