AUXILIARY SERVICES

Grounds Maintenance   

This area is responsible for nearly everything on campus that is outside of the buildings, with the exception of campus drives and parking areas. The duties performed by the crews are diverse. They include, but are not limited to:

• grounds cleaning,
• mowing more than 73.5 acres of turf,
• trimming trees,
• planting and maintaining flower beds,  
• planting, fertilizing, and watering of 165 acres,
• sweeping walkways and patios,
• removing snow and ice from walkways,
• marking athletic fields,
• exterminating pests both inside and out.
• repair and/or construction of sidewalks, masonry walls, chain link fences, and blacktop,
• maintenance of all irrigation systems.

Although over 90% of the Grounds Maintenance work orders are initiated by the Grounds personnel themselves, they would be glad to address any problems or concerns you may have. To place a work request for Grounds Maintenance contact Work Control at 513-556-4147.

Moving Services   

Moving Services is responsible for transporting boxes, all office and laboratory moves, and rearrangement of furniture in offices. Special event set-ups are another responsibility. Rental, delivery and set-up of items include 8 ft. by 6 ft. tables and folding chairs.  Moving Services also transports to items to Surplus Equipment Management and for disposal.  To place a work request for Moving Services contact Work Control at 513-556-4147.

Transportation   

This area is responsible for purchasing and maintaining the University's fleet of 337 vehicles, many of which are owned by Transportation Services and leased to various internal departments. The area’s functions include:

• preventive maintenance,
• repair,
• road service,
• titling/licensing
• dispensing of gasoline
• administration of vehicle insurance schedules  
• accident reporting
• vehicle rental program for internal departments
• scheduling charter buses and motor coaches
