RECYCLING/ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM - How Can You Help?
The mission of the University of Cincinnati Recycling/Environmental Program is to promote and foster environmental awareness by encouraging recycling and discouraging excessive energy use. The program is administered by the Facilities Management Department within the Administration and Finance Division.
We encourage all faculty, staff, students, visitors, and contractors of the campus community to participate in recycling activities.
Why recycle?
1. To conserve natural resources and reduce the amount of waste. 2. To redirect tons of waste away from landfills and incinerators. 3. To help reduce deforestation and the production of green house gas emissions.
How can you help?
- Use the recycling bins in your area and encourage others to recycle too.
- Turn off lights when not in use.
- Use both sides of the paper when copying.
- Reuse large mailing envelopes.
- Reduce paper mailings when possible by posting memos in shared spaces or using email.
- Purchase recycled or recyclable materials.
- Request that your name be removed from mailing lists, especially from companies that send multiple copies.
- Use ceramic mugs rather than throwaway cups.
