Two Types of Fare Cards Are Available
Eligible students and employees may choose to register for either the UC Metro Card or the EZ Ride Card, depending upon what transportation option best meets their individual needs. Both cards are valid for the same time period and for unlimited rides per day.

Be sure to consider your travel needs and patterns before you choose your semester fare card. Think about where and how often you will travel on Metro:
Do you only travel in Zone 1 (City of Cincinnati), or do you travel beyond the City limits into Zones 2 through 5?

UC Students: If you are a "Zone 1 ONLY Rider", and plan to ride at least 53 times during the semester, then the UC*Metro Card is for you. For your $53 Student registration fee, the UC*Metro Fare Card allows you to ride Metro for free in Zone 1 (You pay no cash drop as long as you ONLY travel in Zone 1). Note: If you travel in Zones 2 through 5, then you will be required to pay additional Zone Fees. |
UC Employees: If you are a "Zone 1 ONLY Rider", and plan to ride at least 160 times during the semester, then the UC*Metro Card is for you. For your $160 Employee registration fee, the UC*Metro Fare Card allows you to ride Metro for free in Zone 1 (You pay no cash drop as long as you ONLY travel in Zone 1). |
UC Students and UC Employees: EZ Ride provides a big savings for All Riders who travel frequently through Zones 2 through 5 because they do not have to pay additional Zone Fees for Zones 2 through 5. So the more you ride, the more you save. For the Occasional or Infrequent Rider, EZ Ride provides a convenient "pay as you go" option. With EZ Ride, All Riders may purchase and use transfers. |
