Mission
|
The Office of General Counsel is dedicated to supporting the missions of the university, especially as articulated in its strategic academic plan UC|21, by providing timely, strategic and creative strategies to solve legal problems and to take advantage of legal opportunities. A central goal of the office is to be proactive rather than reactive. The staff of the Office of General Counsel offers preventative counsel and training to facilitate informed decision-making and to anticipate and manage legal risks before they become problems that threaten the financial, operational, strategic or reputational interests of the university. The office accomplishes this goal by developing a deep understanding of the operations and mission of the university, and by cultivating close, productive and collaborative working relationships within the university community and in the larger community that the university serves. In advancing and protecting the interests of the university, the office consistently exercises professional competence and adheres to the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity. |
