When Kris, whose football days at UC earned him honors including First Team Academic All-American and Captain, wanted to make a gift to UC, he chose the Sheakley Athletics Center for two reasons: first, as a thank you to a coaching staff, including Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl Champion coach John Harbaugh, who was his position coach at UC and gave him the opportunity to transform himself from a walk-on quarterback to a scholarship student-athlete at tight end; and second, to help UC athletes with a better football practice facility than the “dated” one at Nippert Stadium. Kris remembers sharing an open locker under the closed end of the stadium, with cracks in the ceiling allowing runoff rain water and old Hudepohl beer to drip on his uniform and helmet.
Currently, an International Director of Industrial Services for Jones Lang LaSalle, Kris graduated magna cum laude from the College of Business with a degree in Finance. But business wasn’t his first love – he spent his first two years at UC in the Engineering program, crediting failing the sophomore weed-out class of Physics 404 as the key turning point in his business career. The College of Business allowed him to leverage his math and sales/social networking skills in less time.
