This quality education is one of the reasons Ann Taylor chose to make a gift during the Proudly Cincinnati Capital Campaign.  When she asked where her money could be put to the best use, she was told that the University needed significant funds toward the rebuilding of the law school.   The Chicagoans for Cincy! and future law students and faculty thank Ann for her generous support of the building fund.  Read full story

When Spes and Chris Mekus attended UC in the late 1960’s-early 1970’s, they were fortunate that their parents could cover the cost of attending college to complete their degrees in Interior Design and Architecture, respectively.  They graduated debt free and ready to start their careers - and ultimately founded their own architectural/design practice.  They decided to do their part by making an annual scholarship commitment to UC’s engineering program with the hope it will give a promising student the chance to accomplish great things.  Read full story

On Thursday, October 28, 2010, the UC College of Business celebrated the grand opening of the Robert and Rose Fealy Auditorium. The ribbon-cutting ceremony honored Robert and Rose Fealy for their gift of nearly $1 million, which funded the renovation of the auditorium. The renovation will benefit College of Business students and faculty, as well as business leaders and executives visiting campus to share their expertise with UC students. Read full story


When Chuck and Marilyn George attended UC in the 1950’s, the tuition for seven weeks in the co-op college was $800; and tuition at the College of Music was $1,500 for the year.  This is a far cry from the costs of getting an education today and the reason they created the Charles and Marilyn George Music Scholarship Endowment Fund to CCM and the Charles and Marilyn George Architectural Scholarship Endowment fund to DAAP. Blake Layda graduated with a BSCE in Civil Engineering and also swam competitively on the UC Swim & Dive Team, waking up early to swim in Laurence Hall, where the pool was located before the Recreation Center was built. He left his legacy at UC by holding the 50-yard freestyle record for over 10 years after graduation.  Currently, Blake holds records in the top 10 spots of six different swimming events. Read full story

Denny Demoss’ advice to current undergraduates at UC is to “Dream a little bigger than you think.” He says although it is easy to stay where you are, one should explore a little more and learn to do new things. Taking advantage of new opportunities will help make you a well-rounded person.  Of course Denny sets the perfect example when he passes on what I thought was the most important advice: to do charitable things. Read full story
