College of Education Special Education ’73; MED Education Administration ‘78 

Personal Note:  UC has always had a special place in my heart, as is the case with most individual’s alma maters.  I am so proud when reading about the university’s achievements and rankings in publications like the UC Magazine.  I have followed UC and participated in alumni activities as first a resident of Chicago and now Miami.  I will forever have my UC license plate on the front of my car.  I fully believe that one’s accomplishments in life are the result of the many experiences one has during their “formative” years.  I know UC contributed greatly to the person I am today.  I will always be proudly UC. 

Career Achievements:  Mr. Ellis has had a long history of professional achievement since graduating from the University of Cincinnati in 1973.  During his five years as a schoolteacher in Cincinnati, he received his Master's Degree in Education Administration, which led to an entry-level management position as a trainer with AT&T.  His achievements at AT&T allowed him to move in relatively quick fashion to the title of District Manager within his first 10 years, becoming the first African-American to achieve that level at AT&T in Cincinnati.  His many successful years at AT&T included executive positions in training, sales and network management.  He finished his career in 2005 as a General Manager in Chicago.  After retiring from AT&T, he returned to the field of education holding executive positions with such education management companies as the Knowledge Learning Corporation and The Princeton Review. 

Educational Highlights: Mr. Ellis graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a BSEd in Special Education from the College of Education in 1973 and a MEd in Education Administration in 1978.  For three years during the 1980s, Mr. Ellis was the statistician for the radio and some TV broadcasts of Bearcat Basketball games.
