University of Cincinnati alumni Peter Rother and Lisa Bambach have made their mark in the heart of Cincinnati through Cincideutsch, a local organization dedicated to promoting the German language and culture. Cincideutsch hosts two events throughout the year, called Stammitisch and Christkindlmarkt. Christkindlmarkt, a German-inspired holiday market, is right around the corner and is held at Fountain Square and Findlay Market.
Peter Rother, co-founder of Cincideutsch, is a 2009 graduate. He is a representative at multiple events and meetings of the German American Citizens League, which is the umbrella organization of Cincinnati’s local German community. Peter previously lived in Linz and Munich to further his studies.
Lisa Bambach, 2012 graduate, is also a vital asset to Cincideutsch. She is the marketing and creative director of the organization. Lisa creates everything from the visual identity to the way Cincideutsch defines itself verbally. Along with doing everything behind the scenes, she also manages all of the social media pages.
“We are striving to embrace modern German culture in addition to preserving the history and tradition,” says Lisa.
Christkindlmarkt, presented by the Christian Moerlein Brewing Company, will open Nov. 29th to Dec. 1st on Fountain Square, alongside Macy’s Light Up the Square and Macy’s-DCI’s Downtown Dazzle. Christkindlmarkt will then move to Findlay Market for the final two weekends which will be Dec. 6th to Dec. 8th and Dec. 13th to Dec. 15th. During the final weekends of Christkindlmarkt Over-the-Rhine will reconnect with its German heritage with an experience that has been infused in the culture for centuries.
