About American Drama

American Drama is published twice yearly by the American Drama Institute. It is funded by the Helen Weinberger Center for the Study of Drama and Playwriting and by the College of Arts and Sciences, both at the University of Cincinnati.

American Drama solicits scholarly studies of dramatic literature from colonial to contemporary times, which feature critical examination of trends and discussions of diversity in scripts for stage, film, radio, and television; the careers of dramatists; and various theories of the development of drama. It welcomes submissions from the practitioners of every methodology, be it traditional historicist, new historicist, feminist, Marxist, structuralist, semiotic, or any other.

American Drama is the journal dedicated to increasing diversity and to reconsidering the history and development of American Drama.
