Basics
of Anesthesia Lecture Series
The Basics of Anesthesia Lecture Series
has been designed for residents beginning their training
in anesthesiology to give them a strong knowledge base on
the fundamentals of anesthesia. A course of lectures covering
the salient points in anesthesia is given daily for the
first six weeks of training. A bibliography and reading
list
are supplied to the residents.
Advanced Lecture
Series
The weekly lectures are scheduled from
4:00 to 5:30 p.m. every Thursday beginning in September.
This series covers both the basic and the clinical sciences
and is patterned after the Content Outline published by
the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American
Board of Anesthesiology. Topics include anatomy, physiology,
pharmacology, physics, clinical medicine and special investigations.
These lectures serve to prepare the resident for the in-training
and written Board exams.
Echo Conferences
This lecture series concentrates on
all aspects of cardiac anesthesia including transesophageal
echo.

Mock Oral Exams

Mock Oral Exams patterned after those of the American Board
of Anesthesiology. The purpose of these sessions are to
familiarize the resident with the oral examination process
required for Board certification. Several of the participating
faculty are either current or former examiners for the American
Board of Anesthesiology.
