Brigadier General Retired Mark A. Montjar will
be honored prior to the University of Cincinnati’s
first home football game vs Indiana State. During
this game the University of Cincinnati will honor
all local members of the Military, Emergency Services,
and Law Enforcement for their service to the Cincinnati
community and our country. The event will include
a static display with two Army helicopters, an
Air Force flyover, and a skydiving demonstration
prior
to the game.
In conjunction with this event, Brigadier General Mark A. Montjar will receive
the First Annual Alumni Hall of Fame Award in a ceremony hosted by the Army ROTC
Department. Mark is a 1971 graduate of the University Of Cincinnati College Of
Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing, upon
graduation Mark commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from the
UC Army ROTC Program. He later received a Masters Degree in Technology from Eastern
Michigan University.
Mark has served in various positions including Battalion Commander, Assistant
Deputy Chief of Staff for personnel 70th Division, Commander of the 6th Material
Command, and Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations. Before his retirement
he served as Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Cadet Command at Ft. Monroe,
Virginia. He has received numerous awards including the Distinguished Service
Medal, Legion of Merit (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), and the Meritorious Service
Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters).
Mark currently works for VSE Corporation as the Director of Business Development.
He retired from General Motors as a World-Wide Purchasing Supervisor, in April
2002. BG Montjar and his wife, Diana, currently reside in Michigan. He has two
children, Andrew and Catherine, and one grandson, Thomas.
The University of Cincinnati Alumni Hall of Fame Award is awarded to those
individuals who have excelled in their personal life, professional life,
and contributed
to the continued success of the UC Army ROTC Bearcat Battalion. Members must
represent the University of Cincinnati and the U.S. Army with honor and pride.
