Master Sergeant Anthony B. Johnson is a native of Greenville, NC where he enlisted in the United States Army in October 1990. MSG Johnson completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training as a Field Artillery Cannon crewman at Ft Sill, Oklahoma. Master Sergeant Johnson has held every leadership position within his Career Management Field. His duty positions include Section Chief, Gunnery Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Master Gunner, First Sergeant, Observer Controller. Master Sergeant Johnson currently serves as the Senior Military Instructor for the University of Cincinnati ROTC program.

Upon graduation from Basic Training and AIT, MSG Johnson was assigned to 3rd BN, 11th FA at Ft Lewis, WA where he served as a cannon crewman and also worked with the Special Weapons program. In December of 1992, he was assigned to 2nd BN, 3rd FA, 1st Armored Division in Kirchgoens, Germany. During his tour of duty he deployed to Bosnia in support of IFOR. In March 1998, he was reassigned to Ft Bragg, NC where he served with 3rd BN, 321st FAR. In December 2000, he was reassigned to 2nd BN, 3rd FA in Giessen, Germany. During his tour of duty he served as Section Chief, Gunnery Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant and Master Gunner. During his 2nd tour of duty in Germany, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on two separate occasions in 2003 and 2006. In July 2007, he was reassigned to the Joint Multi-National Readiness Center to serve as an Observer/Controller with the Vampire O/C team. In July 2010, MSG Johnson was reassigned to 1st BN, 77th FA, Schweinfurt, Germany as the 1SG of Charlie Battery 1-77 FA. During his tour of duty he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 11-12. During the deployment, he was reassigned as 1SG of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery for the remainder of his tour.

MSG Johnson is a graduate of the Warrior Leader Course, Advance Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, First Sergeant Course, Unit Prevention Leader Course, Equal Opportunity Course, Non-Lethal Weapons Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Hazardous Material Driver Training Course, and Air Movement Operations Course. MSG Johnson also earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Southwest University where he graduated with honors in 2011.

MSG Johnson’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd award), Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal ( 4th award), Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Medal (2 campaign stars), Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 campaign star), Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 campaign stars), Global war on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (8th award), Nato Medal (2nd award), Combat Action Badge. His permanent unit awards include the Army Superior Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Citation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Presidential Unit Citation (2nd award).  MSG Johnson is also a proud recipient of the Order of Saint Barbara.

MSG Johnson is married to Susanne Johnson with their 2 children Anthony Jr. 17 years old, and Viviane 15 years old.
