4- Year and 3- Year* Advanced Designee Scholarship

APPLICATION INFORMATION:

High school seniors apply by 15 November (standard deadline) of their senior year. (Applications recieved before 15 September have an increased possibility of obtaining a scholarship because there is an early selection round.)

Apply on-line at www.armyrotc.com or call (1-800-USA-ROTC) for an application.

BENEFITS:

Tuition and fees paid throughout 4 years of college.

Receive free Room and Board for the freshman year.

Receive $900 annually for books.

Receive monthly stipend ($300 for freshmen, $350 for sophomores, $450 for juniors, and $500 for seniors). (10 Months a year)

*Technically, a 3-Year Advanced Designee Scholarship takes effect at the start of the sophomore year. However, due to a University of Cincinnati (UC) incentive package, all 3-Year Advanced Designee winners at UC will receive their first year of tuition paid through the University.

REQUIREMENTS:

All scholarship applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

US Citizen
Less then 32 years old at graduation
920 SAT or 19 ACT composite
2.5 Cumulative Grade Point Average on 4.0 scale
Be in good physical condition and be able to pass a medical examination
Pass the Army Physical Fitness Test (push ups, sit ups, 2 mile run)

OBLIGATIONS:

Upon graduation from UC, the cadet will be commissioned as a 2LT and serve on active duty for 4 years or serve in the Reserve components for 6 years.

All cadets are required to take one ROTC course per quarter (see below) and a lab. The time commitment is approx 5-7 hours weekly. For Freshman and Sophomores, and 7 - 10 hours per week for Juniors and Seniors.

In addition to the ROTC courses listed above all cadets must take one military history course, and also be able to pass a swim test.

All cadets are required to attend Physical Training (PT) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning from 7 – 8 AM. (Exceptions granted by instructors if necessary.)

All Cadets take part in one Field Training Exercise (FTX) every quarter. This usually involves a Friday through Sunday at a nearby military base.
