Master Sergeant LeRoy Gadson is a native of
St. Helena Island, SC. He entered in the U.S.
Army on 16 September 1986 attending OSUT training
at FT Sill, Oklahoma. During his military career,
Master Sergeant Gadson has held every leadership
position to include Howitzer Section Chief, Gunnery
Sergeant, Senior Observer Controller, Platoon
Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, Military Transition
Team NCOIC, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant,
and currently serves as the Senior Military Instructor
for the University of Cincinnati Army ROTC program.
Prior to this assignment, Master Sergeant Gadson has served in a wide array of
Artillery units to include Mechanized, Light, and Air Assault units throughout
his military career. His previous assignments include 1/29th Field Artillery
Fort Carson, Colorado; 2/82nd Field Artillery, Friedberg, Germany; 3/29th Field
Artillery Fort Carson, Colorado; 4/11th Field Artillery, Fort Wainwright, Alaska;
1/3rd ACR, Fort Carson, Colorado; 1/22nd Field Artillery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma;
1 CAV, Fort Hood, Texas. Master Sergeant Gadson’s most recent assignments
were at Fort Carson, where he first served as an Observer Controller, and then
served with the 2/17th Field Artillery and later in the 2/77th Field Artillery.
Master Sergeant Gadson’s deployments include
Operation DESERT STORM (1991); Operation IRAQI
FREEDOM 04-05; Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 06-07;
and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 09-10.
Master Sergeant Gadson is a graduate of the
Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic
Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advanced Noncommissioned
Officers Course, and the First Sergeant Course.
Other schools attended include the Drill Sergeant
Course, Airborne School, Air Assault School,
Field Artillery Weapons Course, Paladin Commanders
Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Unit
Prevention Leaders Course, and the Combat Lifesaver
Course. He has earned an associate's degree in
General Studies from Central Texas College and
a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration.
Among his various decorations and awards, Master Sergeant Gadson’s has
earned the Bronze Star w/ Oak Leaf Cluster (OLC), Meritorious Service Medal
(w/ 1OLC), Army Commendation Medal (w/ 6 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (w/ 5
OLC), Good Conduct Medal (8th award), National Defense Service Medal (w/bronze
star), Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3),
Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 5), Global War on Terrorism
Service Medal, Afghanistan Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge,
Drill Sergeant Badge. Master Sergeant Gadson was also inducted into the prestigious
Order of Saint Barbara.
Master Sergeant Gadson is married to the Former
Naomi Hill.
