The Prize is named in honor of the late James B. Christoph, a leading scholar and former President of the BPG, whose students at Indiana University have received more Samuel H. beer dissertation Awards than those of any other institution or faculty supervisor. Jim was also the recipient of the Pi Sigma Alpha award in 1964 for the best article published in the American Political Science Review. Jim's widow, Natalie Christoph, has very kindly offered to fund this award.
