Student Health Insurance

Student Health Insurance (SHI) is authorized by University of Cincinnati Board Rule 40-25-01. Students are assessed the health insurance premium if they are enrolled for 6 or more units/credit hours, or enrolled in an equivalent level of Coop or Experiential Learning, in a term. Students covered under another qualifying health insurance policy are encouraged to complete the Student Health Insurance "To "Do" located on the upper right-hand side of their student portal. The task will direct the student to the on-line waiver form which, if approved, will be valid for the entire academic year. More information regarding this charge and process can be found on the Student Health Insurance website.

Students in the following academic programs are exempt from this requirement:

  • Greater Cincinnati Consortium (Acacdemic Plan = NMAT-CSRT)
  • CECH Professional Development (Academic Plan = NMAT18-PDG or NMAT18-PDU)
  • Distance Learning Programs (Academic Sub-Plans begin with an asterisk " * ")
  • CEAS CQU in China Programs (Academic Sub-Plan = EE-CQ or ME-CQ)
  • Dual Enrollment Programs (Academic Plan = NMAT-DEP, NMAT28-DEP or NMAT34-DEP)
  • College Credit Plus Programs (Academic Plan = NAMT99-CCP, NMAT28-CCP or NMAT34-CCP)
