R.E.C. Kids Camps and Clubs are designed for school aged children whose last completed grade is between Kindergarten and 8th grade.
Summer Camp 2015 will have 10 one-week sessions that run from June 1, 2015 through August 7, 2015.
Camp runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Parents can drop off their kids any time from 7:30am - 9:00am and pick up their kids any time from 4:00pm - 5:30pm. Drop-off and pick-up times are included in the cost of camp.
Campers can be dropped off on campus at the end of Woodside Dr. (off of Martin Luther King Dr.). R.E.C. Kids will have an Assistant Coordinator outside to check in campers. Any campers dropped off after 9:00am must be escorted inside the Recreation Center by the parent or guardian. Parents exiting their vehicles should reference the parking map to see where they may temporarily park and should NOT park in the Rec Center Circle. Campus Recreation will not be held responsible for any parking tickets issued.
Campers can be picked up at the same location as drop-off. Parents must communicate early pick-ups with the Assistant Coordinator at the beginning of the day to ensure that the child is ready to go at the desired pick-up time. Please note if you are picking up a child during normal swim times, you will need to allow more time for the child to change. Parents exiting their vehicles should reference the parking map to see where they may temporarily park.
Please reference our parking diagram. Parents exiting their vehicles should not park in the Rec Center Circle, as it is a fire lane. If parking for an extended amount of time, we recommend that you utilize Campus Green or Woodside Dr. Garage.
Extended Camp Hours
Late pick-up (after 5:30pm) is not offered. In the case of late pick-ups, there will be a flat $5/day fee. For pickup after 5:45, an additional $1/minute fee will be charged on top of the $5 fee. This fee must be paid upon pick-up.
Field trips are kept to a minimum. We utilize resources on UC’s campus as much as possible. However, we schedule weekly Friday special events. Parents can find more information about these events in the weekly themes section.
The Campus Recreation Center offers Learn to Swim lessons for R.E.C. Kids Campers. These swim lessons are held four times a week and are during the camp day. The costs for swim lessons are $24/week for Members and $32/week for Non-Members. Campers who are not signed up for swim lessons still receive an hour of free swim time each day in our leisure pool.
Camp is under the supervision of recreation professionals and camp counselors who are college students. Each counselor and professional is first-aid and CPR certified and must pass a national and state background check prior to being hired. The camper-to-staff ratio is never more than 9:1.
Parents must provide lunch everyday. R.E.C. Kids Camp provides morning and afternoon snacks and beverages during snack times for each camper. Brown bag lunches with the camper's name written in market are highly encouraged. If sending a lunchbox, please ensure that the child's name is labeled. We also make sure campers are getting plenty of fluids by taking water breaks throughout the day.
We strongly encourage campers to wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing. Many of our events include physical activity.
We encourage that all valuables be left at home including, but not limited to, cell phones, portable video game devices, MP3 players, digital cameras, and trading cards. Campus Recreation will not be held responsible for lost or stolen items.
Unfortunately at this time, R.E.C. Kids Camp does not accept vouchers or offer scholarships.
