UC Alcohol and Other Drug Statistics


The following statistics are from the National College Health Association-National College Health Assessment, which was conducted at the University of Cincinnati in Spring 2007.   

Alcohol

  • 41% of UC students drink 0-4 drinks when they party
  • 11% of UC students have never used alcohol

96% of UC students report doing at least one or more of the following when drinking:
  1. alternate between alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages
  2. set a limit before drinking
  3. choose not to drink
  4. use a designated driver
  5. eat before and/or during drinking
  6. have a friend let you know when you have had too much
  7. keep track of drinks
  8. pace drinks to one or fewer an hour
  9. avoid drinking games
  10. drink an alcohol look-alike

Other Drugs

  • 58% of UC students have never used marijuana
  • 92% of UC students have never used cocaine
  • 91% of UC students have never used Amphetamines (diet pills, speed, meth, crack)
  • 99% of UC students have never used Rohypnol, GHB or Liquid X
