CAREER OBJECTIVE

  • A logical, meaningful statement describing in a concise manner one’s immediate and possible long range career goals.  
  • Use as specific a title as possible without being too restrictive. See Samples.

EDUCATION

  • Degrees - in reverse chronological order
  • Month and year each degree was granted
  • Institutions, location (city and state)
  • G.P.A - if applicable and complimentary
  • Major and minor
  • Course emphasis - if applicable
  • Vocational training - if applicable to job
  • Means of financing education - if applicable

EXPERIENCE

  • Position title, where and when (month and year of start, month and year of end)
    Include full-time, part-time, related volunteer work, internships, and practicum experience.  Appropriate subheadings for this category may include Professional Experience, Work Experience, Related Experience, Other Experience.
  • Use action words (verbs) to cite your responsibilities and accomplishments for each position. Quantify your accomplishments, if possible.
  • Be thorough in your description but do not overrate your responsibilities.
