Description of Major 

This major educates students about how to teach children with special educational needs in grades K-12; focusing on acquiring the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to effectively accommodate variations in learning rate and style.

Graduates are prepared for a wide range of positions in public or private education, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. A variety of jobs are available for special education graduates, including:

Special Education Consultant Special Education Teacher (Intervention Specialist)
Substitute Teacher Teacher (Intervention Specialist) for Children with Mild to Moderate Disabilities
Teacher (Intervention Specialist) for Children with Moderate to Intense Disabilities Tutor for Children with Disabilities
