Dual Enrollment Program
![]()
The Dual Enrollment Program (DEP) involves a partnership between UC and CPS where opportunities are created and where student access and success are paramount. The Dual Enrollment Program at UC is available to selected students from specific Cincinnati Public Schools (see below). The intent of the program is to increase the number of CPS students transitioning to college, particularly students from under-resourced urban areas. Those who are invited to participate in the program pay a small fee of $15/credit hour toward the tuition. The remaining tuition is covered by UC, CPS, and corporate sponsors. DEP courses are paired with existing high school courses, and are offered on the high school campus as part of a student’s normal schedule. College and high school faculty collaborate in the design and delivery of the courses. Participating students earn both high school and college credits. DEP students are UC students and are, therefore, able to access many of the resources available on the UC Uptown and branch campuses. Mission Our mission is to increase the number of Cincinnati Public School (CPS) students transitioning from high school to college and to improve their chances of success at the collegiate level. Participating High Schools
DEP Students To maximize success, students are selected based on a combination of placement tests, attendance records, and teacher recommendations. Courses are restricted to juniors and seniors with preference given to seniors. UC Faculty UC and High School faculty collaborate in the design and delivery of each course. Faculty are selected based on teaching experience and ability to relate well to high school-age students. UC Courses UC DEP staff, high school administrators and teachers determine course offerings. Courses are offered on the high school campus during regular school hours and students earn both high school and college credits. Funding Students pay a nominal fee of $15/credit hour. The remaining tuition balance is paid by Cincinnati Public Schools, a Corporate Sponsor, and the University of Cincinnati. The program measures success in the following ways:
