DEP Saturday Workshops
2006-2007
The DEP program sponsors a series of mandatory workshops. All workshops are on the Uptown Campus in Clifton or the College of Applied Science Campus on Victory Parkway. The workshops are designed to inform students about college expectations and to challenge students to think seriously about their futures.
Dual-Enrollment Program Orientation
September 16 th (9:00-12:00) - Victory Parkway Campus
- To motivate students (and parents) to begin thinking and planning for college by visiting a real college campus – parents welcome!
- To communicate about the DEP program and assist students to understand both the benefits and expectations of the program.
- To build community among DEP students, allowing them the opportunity to see that the program expands beyond their own high school.
College Preparation and Process
November 4 th (9:00-12:00) French Hall, Uptown Campus, Clifton
- To inform students about the importance of beginning the college application process early, both to increase the likelihood of being admitted to the college of first choice and to maximize the possibilities of receiving more financial assistance.
- To explore the wide range of college majors and related careers in a small group setting.
- To explore what college life is like using a panel followed by Q&A.
College Success Skills
January 27 th (9:00-12:30) French Hall, Uptown Campus, Clifton
- To examine in smaller workshops some academic success skills
- Writing in College
- Reading the College Text
- Knowing MY Individual Learning Style and examining MY Study Habits
- Managing MY Time Effectively.
