The mission of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology department is to provide our students comprehensive academic and cooperative work experiences that will form the foundation for lifelong achievement.

Program Educational Objectives

Program educational objectives are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve during the first few years following graduation. The educational objectives for graduates of the ECET department are:

  1. Participates in Continuing Education/Expanding Skills/Professional Development.
  2. Possesses Good Communication Skills.
  3. Exhibits Good People Skills.
  4. Understands Budget/Finance for Projects.
  5. Effectively Utilizes Problem Solving Abilities.
  6. Demonstrates Ability to Manage Projects.
  7. Exhibits Discipline Specific Skills.
  8. Demonstrates Responsibility and Personal Integrity.

Program Outcomes

Program outcomes are statements that describe what units of knowledge or skill students are expected to acquire from the program to prepare them to achieve the program educational objectives. These are typically demonstrated by the student and measured by the program at the time of graduation. The program outcomes for EET and CET graduates are:

  1. an appropriate mastery of the knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of their disciplines,
  2. an ability to apply current knowledge and adapt to emerging applications of mathematics, science, engineering and technology,
  3. an ability to conduct, analyze and interpret experiments and apply experimental results to improve processes,
  4. an ability to apply creativity in the design of systems, components or processes appropriate to program objectives,
  5. an ability to function effectively on teams,
  6. an ability to identify, analyze and solve technical problems,
  7. an ability to communicate effectively,
  8. a recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in lifelong learning,
  9. an ability to understand professional, ethical and social responsibilities,
  10. a respect for diversity and a knowledge of contemporary professional, societal and global issues, and
  11. a commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
