CAS Announces 180 $1000 Scholarships Cincinnati , Ohio: Richard Newrock, Dean of The College of Applied Science (CAS) of the University of Cincinnati, announced today that the college will provide a scholarship to as many as 180 entering freshmen. The 180th Anniversary Scholarships are each worth $1,000 across the academic year.
Incoming freshmen receiving these scholarships need to (1) be among the first 180 students enrolled in the college as a full-time student at the onset of the fall quarter of 2008, (2) be admitted to any of the college’s baccalaureate degree programs, and (3) remain in good academic standing throughout the academic year. Like the college’s other scholarships, the 180th Anniversary Scholarships are subject to UC policies and will be added to other scholarships and grants that a student may also receive. Examples of scholarships specifically for entering freshmen are the UC Cincinnatus Competition and CAS Technology Scholars awards.
“Our co-operative work/study quarters go a long way toward defraying college costs but these don’t start until the sophomore year. This new assistance will help our incoming students when they need it the most – at the outset. We are delighted that our supporters have given yet another incentive for students to pursue technology oriented careers.” The college is committed to a high level of academic performance and excellence in its labs, its faculty and its students. CAS is STEM – science, technology, engineering and math. CAS boasts an outstanding graduate placement record as its graduates are known to be proven performers with excellent problem-solving abilities. Students interested in learning more about The College of Applied Science, its programs, or its scholarship opportunities (including the 180th Anniversary Scholarships) need to log onto www.uc.edu/cas or email casquestions@uc.edu. Students and parents interested in a CAS Technology Scholarship should log onto www.uc.edu/cas/scholar for requirements and details and then see their high school counselor for an application.
