2008 CAS Technology Scholars Announced

The College of Applied Science identifies 13 high school seniors as 2008 CAS Technology Scholars. Dean Richard Newrock announced 13 students from high schools across Ohio as 2008 CAS Technology Scholars. Dean Newrock also confirmed that nominations to CAS Technology Scholars exceeded expectations and that the college had managed to fund three additional awards.

CAS Technology Scholars Program

The College of Applied Science, CAS, of the University of Cincinnati is pleased to offer the CAS Technology Scholars Program. The program provides both speakers for high school classes and career events as well as scholarships for high school seniors. (Click for Press Release)

CAS Technology Scholarships

CAS makes ten Technology Scholarship Awards of $1,000 each to the college for high school seniors with the following minimum achievements:

1) Overall Grade Point Average of 3.5 (Out of 4.0)
     Math & Science GPA of 3.8
     ACT score of 26 or SAT score of 1180
2) Participation in two extra-curricular activities - in school or the community
3) Recommendation of a counselor or teacher

NOTES:
1) A school may submit one student for recognition as a CAS Technology Scholar.
2) Scholarships are awarded to students entering the College of Applied Science. Should the recipient choose to attend another college or university, the scholarship will be awarded to the next applicant as determined by the judges.
3) CAS Technology Scholarships are merit based and add to all other scholarships, grants, or gifts that a student may receive with the provision that these not total more than the full cost of tuition, lab fees, room & board, plus books.
4) CAS Technology Scholarship applications must be received on or before February 1, 2008.

CAS Technology Scholars Special Recognition

Date: Wednesday Evening February 20, 2008
Place: Fifth Third Arena on the University of Cincinnati Campus

The College of Applied Science awarded its Technology Scholarships at center court during half-time of the UC - USF basketball game. Award recipients and their parents were guests of the college for the game (each recipient received three tickets plus parking and programs). Photographs were taken during the scholarship presentation. Up to two representatives of the recipient's school also joined the award ceremony as guests of the college.
