Advising Office
The advising office is staffed by nine full-time professional advisors and two assistant directors. Our professional advising staff is highly qualified; the majority of the advisors hold a Master’s degree and on average have five to ten years experience in student services. The advisors bring a variety of work experiences and expertise to the Center, including social services, counseling, communications, and higher education administration.

Your advisor plays an important role in your experience in the Center for Access and Transition. Here is just a partial list of all the things your advisor will do:
- Explain placement test results and the terms of your learning agreement at New Student Orientation
- Assist you in course selection to ensure that the requirements of your learning agreement and your eventual degree are being met in a timely fashion
- Assist students in the course registration process
- Refer students to appropriate campus resources to help them make the most of their college experience
- Explain the transition agreements and process to ensure that the student knows what is expected of him/her
- Communicate with teachers to monitor student’s progress in the classroom
- Explain grades and GPA calculations and CAT or University policies to students
All students in the Center must meet with their advisor once a month in order to be able to register for classes for the next quarter and to be able to transition to his/her desired college. Your advisor will serve as the guide to your experience at the University of Cincinnati, helping your begin your college career as an informed and empowered student!
