The Center for Access and Transition has served more than 1800 students since its opening in fall of 2004. Approximately 40% of our students live on campus, and they are involved in athletics (both intercollegiate and intramural), Greek life, and student government. The Center also offers learning communities comprised of CAT coursework for the students it serves.
“The CAT program was very helpful while I was there. It helped me make a smooth transition from high school student to college student. It was a great help because many people don’t realize how big that transition is.”
— Ashley Bennett, who transitioned into McMicken College of Arts and Sciences for autumn quarter 2005.
“Take advantage of everything. Use the fields for recreation. Look at the books in the library (some of them are really old). Talk to professors – they have amazing stories. Go to sporting events and other activities that are free; it’s amazing how much stuff we don’t take advantage of that our tuition dollars pay for. Overall, just be prepared to succeed. CAT is great because it can take you to almost any program here at UC. Work hard to join those programs and go far in life. Good Luck!” — Ben Ertel (transitioned into McMicken College of Arts & Sciences in spring 2005) |
