What do we do?

We are here to help you with anything from discussing and understanding your assignment to different ways to help you prepare for tests and retests.

Do I have to make an appointment?

No. If you need to work with a tutor, understand that we are a drop in center and our staff may be working with other students. Often, we are extremely busy.  The earlier you visit, the better your chances of getting personal attention.  However, appointments can be made.  Making an appointment guarantees you a one on one session with a tutor of your choice.

What is the best way to use the Math Resource Center?

The best way to utilize the MRC is to come in and see us anytime that you question your understanding of the assignment material. We are not a substitute for going to class.  We are here to supplement the work you are doing in the classroom and on your own.  We assist you; however, we are not professors and cannot teach missed material.

Things to remember:

  •  Tutors will not do the work for youThey will assist you and encourage you in the hopes that you eventually will master the material.
  •  Working with tutors will boost confidence in your own math abilities.  You will become aware of the process and the steps to complete each equation.
  • Working with tutors does not guarantee a particular grade, not even a passing grade, but consistent visits to the MRC reflect a personal commitment to excellence and a determination to succeed.
