Before we share the common misuses
with you, we want to remind you of the following:
-
Come early and come often.
Tutors are trained by
math faculty teaching courses.
Visit before and after a test.
We are a walk-in center: appointments are available but not
necessary. We will always have tutors available for walk-ins.
Common Misuses
Waiting until the last minute - math is
learned through constant practice and drilling. Figure out early what
you struggle with and work on mastering it over a period of time.
Students who wait until the day before or the day of the test are not making
good use of our services.
Waiting until you fail a test to come in -
this really needs no explanation but in case you need one: If this happens,
not only are you studying for the next test, you have to prepare for a test
you are already taking. You are doing twice the work when at least
some if not all of what you are doing for the retest, you could have done
for the first test.
Giving up - no matter how hard it gets,
giving up is ot the solution. Asking help is often part of the
learning process. You have other resources besides tutors to help you
improve at Math. Working hard consistently and taking what you are
trying to achieve seriously is a formula for success.
