Related Information
-
The Writing Center
is responsible for placing tutors in classrooms.
-
Eng 095 and Eng 097
courses receive 2 tutors on Mondays and Fridays. The tutors stay
for one hour and assist the professor with any classroom tasks.
Tutor availability and budget constraints will affect the number of
tutors placed in the classrooms.
-
Teaching assistants
from the College of Education are often placed in Eng 095 and 097 in
the autumn quarter. This negates the need for WC tutors in the
classroom. In the event that only one TA is placed in a course, one
tutor will be assigned at the traditional Monday and Friday times.
-
Eng 101B classes
receive 2 tutors for one hour, two days per week. These tutors are
scheduled according to availability and class times. These tutors
are always writing center employees.
-
Tutor or scheduling
requests can be submitted to the Writing Center Coordinator by paper
form or email.
-
To help the writing
center provide high quality tutoring, we ask professors and students
in classes receiving tutors to evaluate the tutors' performances at
the end of the quarter.
-
Additional
information about the center, its hours, and the use of tutors can
be found at the center's website.
-
If you have
questions about utilizing tutors in the classroom contact the
Writing Center Coordinator. Often tutors and other writing faculty
can answer these questions as well.
