Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati provides a positive, safe place for children, kindergarten through 12th grade, to spend their non-school hours surrounded by caring adults and to engage in enriching, age appropriate youth development activities. Our educational, recreational, art and character building programs offer a safe and positive environment for these at-risk children to learn respect, discipline and leadership skills. Bluegrass for Babies Healthy Kids Lab: June 1

Bluegrass for Babies is an all volunteer nonprofit organization that benefits Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Our mission is to improve the health of children in the Greater Cincinnati Area by providing resources, education, and practical tools for young families about organic nutrition, waste reduction, and safer cleaning at home.

Volunteer Tasks: This month's lab will focus on safe cleaning products for the home. Help preschool and elementary aged children make their own safe cleaner by mixing vinegar, baking soda, water, and essential oils and clean a few things around the Museum. Lead children through a bubble painting craft activity. Volunteers should be comfortable engaging with young children and their families.

Recess in the Stadium: June 22 (June 6 Deadline)

Sponsored by the Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children’s, the American Heart Association, and the Cincinnati Bengals, Recess in the stadium is a FREE event for kids and their families, teaching heart-healthy habits through various aerobic activities, nutritional stations, and interactive activity stations throughout the Bengals stadium! Highlights include a 40 yard dash on the Bengals playing field, inflatable playground, health screenings for kids and adults, a real animal heart, cheering and dancing with the Ben-Gals, special guests, and drawings for gifts. We expect over 1000 kids this year so we need plenty of volunteers to staff each activity booth.

Second Sunday on Main supports the revitalization of the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.
Shifts: 10:30a - 12:30p | 12:00 - 2:30p | 2:00 - 4:30p | 4:00 - 5:30p | There is a need for volunteers to stay for the entire event, serve one, or some combination of shifts. Most help is needed at the beginning and end of the day.

Volunteer Tasks: Helping with set-up and tear down, assisting vendors, the Celebrity Chef demo, and Pones Inc.

The Women’s Connection Block Party: June 8

The Women's Connection is a neighborhood center that empowers women and girls to make choices that lead to positive change in their lives. We are seeking volunteers (both men and women) for our annual Block Party, which fosters family fun within our community!

Wild Ones at Sooty Acres: June 9

A day of work day at Hauck Botanic Gardens (Sooty Acres) and home of the Civic Garden Center of Cincinnati, very close to main campus. The Civic Garden Center is a non-profit horticultural resource that enriches lives through education, community beautification and environmental stewardship. The local chapter of "Wild Ones: Native Plants, Natural Landscapes" group is working to restore the garden of the original owner of a property that is now a Cincinnati Park. It is a huge task and much help is needed.

Volunteer Tasks: Include general weeding and removal of non-native invasive plants, edging, and in the coming weeks, mulching of the beds. Wear sturdy clothing and shoes and dress for the weather. Tools and gloves provided.

AAU Track & Field National Qualifier: June 28 - 30

Ohio AAU is a youth sport organization for athletes k-18 interested Track & Field. We strive to develop character, teach sportsmanship, and increase self-esteem in our youth. Our positive philosophy is designed to bring out the best in each athlete regardless of age. We have strong links to the local communities and schools in which we serve. AAU Track & Field National Qualifier is largest youth sporting event in the state of Ohio. Athletes that qualify will progress to compete in the AAU Junior Olympic, where there are over 20,000 athletes across the USA to complete in this national event. Due to the large volume of participants we need volunteers to assist in this event.

Volunteer at Great American Ballpark: All Reds Home Games

Reds Community Fund
The Reds Community Fund is the non-profit arm of the Reds, dedicated to improving the lives of youth by leveraging the tradition of the Cincinnati Reds and the game of baseball.
When: All Reds home games throughout the season, through September 27 (See the Schedule).
Where: Great American Ball Park (easy bus ride from campus!).
Volunteer Tasks: Volunteers will be walking throughout the ballpark, selling Split-the-Pot raffle tickets to benefit theReds Community Fund and its various youth baseball outreach programs.
Volunteer Perks: All volunteers will receive FREE meal voucher and FREE tickets to a future Reds home game!

Green Guardians
The Cincinnati Reds need a total of 40 volunteers for each home game to assist with recycling collection during the 7th inning! Individuals as well as groups up to 40 are welcome to participate. A "Standing Room Only" ticket is provided for each volunteer.

Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses - Findlay Street After School Program: Flexible, After School

Findlay Street Neighborhood House has historically served as a Safe Haven in the West End where youth can engage in positive activities. Computer Training, Teen Center and the Gym are open daily giving youth opportunities to engage in activities with the support of caring adults.
When: Days and times can be flexible within the after school hours.

Volunteer Tasks: Interacting with children, tutoring/homework help and help with any other activities. The after school program has 40 youth ages of 6 to 16 who could benefit from homework help and tutoring. Youth also receive lessons in health and nutrition, have use of our computer lab to develop their computer skills and to complete homework assignments. A snack and dinner are served each day throughout the school year.

Cincinnati Works

Cincinnati Works offers a holistic approach to eliminating poverty in the Tri-State area by providing job skill training and ongoing employment counseling. Cincinnati Works helps people in poverty reach economic self-sufficiency through finding employment, retaining employment, and advancing over time to higher paying jobs.
When: Monthly (or more often if desired); Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, 9:00a - 3:00p any 2-hour shift.

Volunteer Tasks: Job Search Assistant, work with clients in the job search lab to help with online applications, basic computer skills, resume/cover letter preparation, and other computer-based tasks.

Deupree House Meals on Wheels

The mission and cause of Meals on Wheels is to provide home cooked meals and warm visits to the elderly and shut-ins of Cincinnati. Deupree Meals on Wheels is in need of drivers to deliver meals to elderly shut-ins in the Eastern part of Cincinnati. Our program is volunteered based, and only exists because of dedicated volunteers!
When: Tuesday through Friday 10:30a - 12:00p (choose one or more days).

Volunteer Tasks: Pick up meals at Deupree House in Hyde Park then deliver meals on a designated route.

St. Margaret Hall: Any Day

St. Margaret Hall, a Catholic nursing and residential care facility for the elderly, is always looking for volunteers to help provide activities to enhance quality of life through recreation for residents. There are many opportunities at St. Margaret Hall to make a difference in someone’s life; from reading to people to assisting residents on the computer/nook, and even bringing your pet to visit or just spending one on one time with people.
Where: 1960 Madison Rd., 45206, close to campus.
Volunteer Tasks: Coffee Hour- volunteers can do a coffee hour with residents on our assisted living unit. Times can be flexible, but one hour a week during the afternoon would be preferred. Elevator - run the elevator during resident meal times (11:15a - 1:00p and/or 5:15 - 7:00p every day).

General Construction Tasks: April - May most Wednesday’s and Saturday’s

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati partners with low-income families to build, rehab, and repair simple decent housing.  Volunteers are key to our mission as they provide much needed labor and ingenuity.
When: Wednesdays and Saturdays, 8:00a - 4:00p. Occasional half days are available.

Su Casa GED Classes: Fridays and Saturdays

Su Casa was founded in 1997 as a response to the sudden increase in the numbers of immigrants arriving to Cincinnati from Mexico and the rest of Latin America. Su Casa was the first organization in the Cincinnati region to focus on the Latino Community and the influx of immigrants to the area.

The Marketing/PR VISTA will work to get GRAD Cincinnati’s mission known in the community and increase organizational capacity through fundraising, grant writing and donation solicitation. The Resource Development VISTA will work within CPS’s nationally recognized Community Learning Centers to build community partnerships to provide students with college access and after school enrichment opportunities.

Singers, Pianists, Coordinators for ROKCincy's Barber of Seville: August 2013 - May 2014 (Very Flexible)

Roundabout Opera for Kids: Cincinnati (ROKCincy) is a non-profit bringing fully staged live performances to area schools and educational institutions. Our mission is to provide young students with an engaging first experience with the genre as audience members and to provide developing professional musicians the opportunity to hones their skills. This is a free service to the schools and students.
When: Rehearsals and performances are scheduled around you.
Where: Rehearsals are on campus and performances are at local elementary schools and community centers with transportation provided, if necessary.
Volunteer Tasks: Singers to fill the roles of Barber of Seville (a 40 min. child-friendly version), pianists to coach and accompany performances and rehearsals, volunteer to coordinate rehearsals and performances.
Volunteer Perks: Fun and enriching way to use your time and talents performing for young students whose arts funding is lacking or has been cut entirely, the opportunity to perform at events in which members of the Cincinnati arts scene will see and hear you. Great experience for anyone with an interest in Performing Arts, Arts Administration, Early Education and Non-Profits.

The YMCA Black and Latino Achievers program seeks tutors to work with ESL (English as a Second Language) students at Withrow University High School.

Volunteer Tasks: Help completing projects and homework in subjects such as English, Mathematics (Algebra 1/2, Geometry, pre-calculus), Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics), and Social Science (American history & Government).  Bilingual volunteers (Spanish or French) are needed but this is not mandatory since our students enjoy practicing and learning English as well. A background check and child protection training are required.

Summer Youth Ministry Intern: June - August

Shiloh United Methodist Church in Cincinnati is looking for someone called into youth ministry who has at least one year of college completed. This 10 week internship is an intensive, full-time, fully immersive internship that spans the summer months (June – August). The intern will receive a scholarship of $2000 upon completion of the internship in addition to a weekly stipend of $50 to help offset everyday expenses. There are housing possibilities through living with a host family from the church. Our Youth Development Program participants are at risk teens living in poverty. The Covington Mentoring Program

Bulldog Connection is the middle and high school program in Covington. You must be 21 years of age, have a clean background check, and the desire to change someone’s life. Committing to at least one year with the student, you will meet with them a total of 4 hours a month, split up however works best for both of your schedules. The Lunch Buddy program involves an adult 18 or older, and an elementary school student. You will meet with them during their lunch period, either in the lunch room or the Family Resource Center at the school. After-School Buddy follows the same criteria as the Lunch Buddies, but meets primarily after school.
