Donating blood is safe and easy. You must be at least 17 years old and in good health. You must weight at least 110 pounds, eat a good meal within four hours of donating, and bring identification to donate. For further information regarding medicines, immunizations, or other medical questions pertaining to blood donation, call Hoxworth's Donor Services at (513) 558-1304.
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati Medical Center needs 350 blood donors and 40 platelet donors each day to keep up with the needs of tri-state patients. Hoxworth, founded in 1938, serves 28 hospitals in 17 counties in Souther Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana.

The Freestore/Foodbank needs volunteers for two upcoming events to relieve hunger in Cincinnati
Letter Carriers Canned Food Drive is Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the FreestoreFoodbank Warehouse – 1250 Tennessee Avenue.
Volunteers Needed for 2 shifts: 3 pm – 6 pm and 5 pm – 8 pm
Assignments: Receiving and pre-sorting incoming food donations and Hospitality

5th Annual Hunger Walk is Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day) in Lytle Park, Downtown Cincinnati
Volunteers are needed for 3 shifts:
4 am – 7 am shift: Set-up
7 am – 11 am shift: Registration, Course Directors, Greeters and Refreshment Servers
9 am – 12 noon: Cheerleaders, Breakdown & Clean-up

CLIFTON CLEAN UP DAY
When: Saturday May 10th, 2008, 9:00am- 1:00pm; 2:00pm-6:00pm
Where: Meeting place TBA (Somewhere in Clifton near campus)
We are currently seeking volunteers for a clean-up day in Clifton on Saturday May 10th, 2008. Volunteers will be walking the streets and picking up trash off the streets of Clifton just in time for summer!
The event will consist of two work periods: a morning session from 9:00am to 1:00pm and an afternoon session from 2:00pm-6:00pm. Volunteers in need of volunteer hours may sign up for one session or both.
We need lots of volunteers, group leaders, and donations of trash bags, gloves, canned drinks, and bottled waters. We will be signing off for volunteer hours for all of these things including donations.

Clifton Cultural Arts Center – Help Sweep, Mop and Clean – Saturday, May 10
Volunteers are needed on Saturday, May 10, from 9 am – 12 pm to help with general cleaning – sweeping, mopping, dusting, etc. - at the historic Clifton School building, future home of the Clifton Cultural Arts Center. Brooms and mops will be provided. Just bring yourself and an eagerness to work.
Clifton School is located on the northwest corner of Clifton and McAlpin Avenues, just north of Skyline Chili on Ludlow Avenue in Clifton. Parking is available on McAlpin Avenue.

Mayfield Park Playground Build
The Injury Free Coalition for Kids at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is recruiting volunteers to build its first playground in East Price Hill. This one-day project will provide safe, new playground equipment and safety surfacing for kids in the East Price Hill community. We are planning a carnival with fun activities for all so the more volunteers on hand, the better!
When: Saturday May 17, 2008
Time: 8 AM until the playground is completed!
Where: Mayfield Park (3600 Mayfield Avenue, off Ross Avenue near Glenway)
Who: Anyone willing to take part in fun, worthwhile community service project!

IT'S TIME FOR BUTTERFLIES: Volunteers needed for annual Butterfly Exhibit
April 19th through June 15th. We NEED you! Help make the 2008 Butterfly Show “The Silk Road” a success! Work with fun staff members who depend upon support of volunteers looking for a great experience. One of the most valuable resources for the show is volunteer involvement, which has been a direct impact on its success for over a decade. Over 200 volunteers are needed to work as Door Guards, Greeters, Craft Room Assistants on weekends, and for Special Events. Kappa Kappa Gamma will be hosting a charity soccer tournament for children with chronic kidney disease on Saturday, May 24 at Gettler Stadium on campus from 8:00am until approximately 6:00pm (at the latest). We are looking for anyone with soccer knowledge who would be interested in volunteering to referee games. Referees will be awarded volunteer hours, a free t-shirt, and water all day. Freedom Center Greeters needed at the Harriet Tubman Theater Any day Tuesdays thru Sundays, 11:00am – 3:00pm
We are looking for smiling faces to greet our guests visiting the “Suite for Freedom” film in the Harriet Tubman theater! This position consists of greeting guests, passing out literature, and anything additional that may be needed by our manager of guest services. A Freedom Center uniform shirt will be provided. THE ORGANIZATION: Hole in the Wall Camps are the world's largest family of camps for children with serious illnesses and life-threatening conditions.
VOLUNTEER ROLE: Each family is paired up with a family pal who acts as a host for the weekend. Responsibilities can include: provide assistance in campers’ daily and medical care, guide and motivate campers, helping the family with any needs that arise, and generally helping them to have the best experience possible. Volunteers PLAY WITH KIDS!
