|Evanston NBD Plan
The Community of Evanston is a blighted and underserved neighborhood that was the subject of two quarter-long studios with undergraduate and graduate students from the School of Planning. These studios provided the community with a prioritized list of necessary physical improvements that would benefit their neighborhood business district.
Working with the students, the Evanston Community Council was successful in soliciting funding and services from the City of Cincinnati. The Evanston Community Council requested additional design services from the Community Design Center as a refinement and extension of the work that the academic studio provided. The Center worked with the City Department of Architecture and Urban Design to provide schematic design work for new urban gateways, a streetscape design for the northern business district, schematic infill building design, and a redevelopment plan for the three acre former BASF industrial site.
