In January 2007 the Community Design Center led a design charrette for the the Shelby County Fairgrounds
near Sidney Ohio. The CDC, working with Ohio Urban University Program partner Wright State Center for Urban
and Public Affairs, provided design and economic development technical assistance to the Shelby County
Chamber of Commerce and county fair planning group to determine the feasibility and visioning for
relocating the County Fair to a new 66 acre site adjacent to I-75. Design work was provided by architecture
and planning student staff of the CDC under the direction of Frank Russell and Architect Tony Costello of
Ball State University.
