This student's work borrows Kevin Lynch’s image study in which he explains that the city is experienced in ways, or layers, which make up a "mental map." The elements within these layers are nodes, edges, districts, landmarks, and paths. Along the corridor she tries to identify these elements separately and then she overlays all of these layers to create a graphic that represents the overall "mental image" of the corridor. Next Thematic Studies for the Corridor project. Back to all analytical work. Back to all Great Streets and Gateways projects. |
