Frequently Asked Questions TEST PREPARATION AND REVIEW CLASSES
Q: What is the success rate of passing the tests after taking your Test Preparation and Review classes? A: We have offered these Test Prep Classes since 1994 and have hundreds of evaluations on file in our office that attest to the positive worth the students place on the class. These are evaluations that students complete during the last session to let us know their opinion of the class; therefore this occurrs prior to the students taking the test itself. In all these years, no one has ever called to complain that the class did not prepare them to take the test. However, we have not yet been able to conduct a study to determine the “before” and “after” test score results of taking these classes.
Q: How can I sign up for the test? A: To register for the GMAT or GRE test at UC, call UC's Testing Center at (513) 556-7173. Or, call the test companies directly to find out about scheduling, rescheduling, canceling, etc. GRE at 800-473-2255; GMAT at 800-717-GMAT or see www.mba.com; TOEFL at 800-468-6335
Q: When must I take the test for admission to grad school? A: Check with the school/Dept. to which you're applying. Also, you may want to check the appropriate web site: www.lsac.org (LSAT) www.gre.org (GRE) www.gmac.com (GMAT)
Q: What if I can't come to all of the classes? A: You are still welcome to attend, as long as you understand that you will be missing out on the information presented in that class; but that can't be helped. Ordinarily, the instructors can direct you to the chapters in the book that you missed so you can catch up. Also, we are not able to pro-rate the fee for the class. As long as you realize these things, it's not a problem; you are welcome to sign up!
Q: Is the price for the book included in the course fee? A: No, you will need to purchase the book on your own. We have ordered a supply of books at the UC Bookstore (556-1400) as well as at DuBois (281-4120) if you would like to check with them. Let them know it's for a noncredit Communiversity class.
Q: Is the course covered by financial aid, scholarship or tuition remission? A: No, we are sorry, but this is a noncredit course and there are no discounts, aid packages or scholarships that may be applied. However, we have tried to keep the price of our classes reasonable so that people will be able to more easily afford them.
Q: Tell me about the computerization aspect of testing and whether we use computers as part of the prep classes? A: We would direct you to this web site since there are practice question and tests available there. In fact, GRE and GMAT test registrants actually receive a free CD with practice test.
