Post Conference Overview

The December 2008 Program Officer’s Conference raised the bar for all of us as we return to work in our GEARUP state OR partnership initiatives.

A widely recognized improvement in this year’s conference was the increased opportunity to interact with Program Officer Ann McNeal. Ms. McNeal offered insight on “Writing Measurable Objectives”, convened small discussion groups for grantees, and participated in a question-and-answer panel session.

Grantees shared effective practices, principles, and strategies in break-out sessions; and took full advantage of networking opportunities to share resources, and to build new and strengthen existing relationships. Click here to view the Program.

Hassan Davis' dynamic and compelling keynote address was a conference highlight. Hassan challenged and inspired us to honor our commitment to youth, education, the GEARUP program, and each other.  A shared and renewed purpose and passion will enable all of us to see the good in each student and to help each student succeed academically, personally, and in life.

According to the post-conference evaluation completed by 15 of 42 attendees:

• The overall experience was rated a 4.4 out of 5
• We should host the Program Officer’s Conference annually
• It should begin in the morning and last 2.5 days
