Programs & Services

In order to provide academic, personal, social, and financial support to first-generation, Pell-eligible students, the Gen-1 Theme House employs two full-time professional staff members. Additionally, two resident advisors are available to ensure students receive timely advising and guidance. This structure provides students with 24/7 access to program staff.


Academic Support

  • Monitoring of student academic performance with need-based individual student action plans

  • Mandatory individual academic conferences

  • Proactive academic and personal advising
  • Mandatory and optional tutoring sessions

  • Mandatory and optional individual and small-group study sessions

  • A year-long course for both freshmen and sophomores

  • Nightly house quiet hours
     

Self-Advocacy and Networking

Coaching and mentoring that empowers students to:

  • Develop personal relationships with contacts in key UC departments and offices

  • Build positive working relationships with UC faculty

  • Access and take full advantage of university resources including academic, financial, and social supports
