Faculty Position Information:

Assistant or Associate Professor, Center for Health Informatics, Department of Public Health Sciences

The Center for Health Informatics (CHI) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) is seeking one or more health scientists at the level of assistant or associate professor to expand our educational and research programs in biomedical and health informatics.

The CHI is a newly created center within the College of Medicine that is designed to serve as the academic home for Health Informatics researchers and educators at the University of Cincinnati. The CHI has multiple partnerships across the campus and the region including the University Hospital, UC Physicians, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, as well as with other regional health systems, group practices, and HealthBridge, our regional health information organization. These partnerships provide CHI investigators with real-world laboratory settings in which to apply biomedical and health informatics theory and methods to advance the discipline and improve the quality of health and healthcare locally, regionally, and nationally.

Applications are welcomed from qualified candidates committed to advancing the science and practice of biomedical and health informatics. However, preference will be given to those with expertise in the areas of clinical informatics, clinical research informatics, or public health informatics.

Qualified candidates will have a PhD (or equivalent doctorate degree) in biomedical/health informatics or a doctorate in a health profession (MD, PharmD, DNurs, etc.) with advanced training in biomedical/health informatics (Fellowship and/or MSc). Strong skills in informatics research methods are required, and experience in an academic healthcare setting is highly desirable. Successful candidates will have a track record of externally-funded research and a demonstrated ability to teach at the university level. Those with clear potential to teach and develop an externally-funded line of research will also be considered. Applicants with the drive to independently pursue research opportunities and help build a new academic informatics program in a supportive and robust academic environment will be best suited to this position. Opportunities are available for clinical practice as well as co-appointments in appropriate divisions/departments for those with clinical degrees.
