Author mode is the interface you'll be working in as you build your pages. It essentially shows you the page as it is so far, but with spaces for you to add new components and edit the configuration of existing ones. There are two important tools on-screen in Author Mode: Sidekick and Content Finder.

The Sidekick
Think of the sidekick as your toolbox while you're building in CQ. All of your page's information and available components are accessible from here.
In the Components tab, you'll find all of the available tools for adding content and functionality to your page. There are many available for use on UC websites, and the Components page on this site provides an overview on how to utilize many of them.
If you don't see a component you'd like to use, contact CQ Support to request permission.
The Page tab of the Sidekick will allow you to Activate and change information using Page Properties.
Content Finder
The left side of your Author mode interface has a panel called the Content Finder. Anything stores in DAM is accessible here, as well as other pages in CQ. There are six tabs:
- Images
- Documents
- Flash
- Pages
- Paragraphs
- Browse
Inside of each of these tabs, there'll be a search bar for you to filter what the content finder display.
