Course Description The Goals and Objectives The aim of this symposium is to provide practicing gastroenterologists, surgeons, and primary care physicians with a problem-based state-of-the art overview of current diagnostic and treatment options in pancreatic diseases with emphasis on the following topics: · Sobering statistics · Genetics and screening: Are we making any progress? · Clinical staging: Who should be considered respectable? · Surgical approaches: Standard of care at a tertiary center · Surgical advances: Can we do better? · Neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy: Why and how · Radiation therapy: What is its role here? · Complementary and alternative medicine: Expanding the box · IPMN: More than an imaging epidemic · Endoscopic palliation: What we can do now As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to: · Develop skills to assess surgical resectability · Describe two surgical advances for panc.CA · Recognize the trials most crucial in shaping recent chemotherapy regimens for panc.CA · Identify three alternative techniques (aside from surgery and traditional chemotherapy) for potential palliative treatment for panc.CA Agenda
